Dos grupos de cinco... o quizas todos contra todos? Pero tomaria mucho tiempo. Dos grupos de a 3 y otro de 4? Bah, somos muy pocos paises.
OK, let's look at how the US has done against each team in the Copa the last time they met. USA 1-Chile 0 Coquimbo, Chile 2001 USA 3-Colombia 0 California, 2005 USA 1-Ecuador 0 Alabama, 2002 USA 2-Paraguay 0 Columbus, 2003 USA 2-Venezuela 0 Ohio, 2006 USA 2-Mexico 0 Ohio, 2006 USA 1-Peru 0 Miami, 2000 USA 2-Uruguay 1 Washington DC, 2002 USA 0-Bolivia 0 Santa Cruz, Bolivia 1999 Brazil 1-USA 0 Confederations Cup 2003, France Argentina 1-USA 0 Florida, 2003 So what have we learned with this data. 1) In their most recent games against these teams the US is 8 wins 2 losses (Brazil and Argentina, no surprise) 1 draw 2) Only two games really mattered in tournaments: Confed Cup vs. Brazil and WCQ versus Mexico 3) Most of the games were in the US. By the way, how did the USA do the last time they were in Copa America (in Uruguay? USA 2-Chile 1 Bolivia 1-USA 0 USA 3-Argentina 0 (!!!!!!!) USA 0-Mexico 0 (USA win on PK) Brazil 1-USA 0 Columbia 4-USA 1 So, what evidence do you have for this so-called beating to come? I'm not saying the USA is going to win, but they won't get killed either.
I agree. By the way (off-topic), but why do people write Columbia instead of Colombia? In both English and Spanish I am pretty sure it's spelled with an "o". But your post was very accurate, though. I think the US will make it to the 2nd round. Metro
I think because in English a certain persons name is Christopher Columbus http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christopher_Columbus Therefore our capital is: District of Columbia The capital of Ohio is: Columbus, Ohio etc. etc. I don't know if we'll make it to the 2nd round. The draw has a lot to do with that, and also what team we decide to take. If the USA doesn't bring their European players (Onyewu, Convey, Dempsey will be in England by then, etc. etc.) then you'd really have to see the draw.
Hmmmm....it's still Colombia in English, as well, no? When people refer to Colombia as Columbia, I inmediately think of Columbia University. Metro
Official website of the District of Columbia: http://www.dc.gov/ We've also got space shuttle Columbia, Columbia University, Columbia records, Columbus Ohio, Columbia South Carolina, Columbia Missouri, etc. etc. I also lived in Columbus, Indiana, for a short while That's why we mis-spell the country of ColOmbia almost every time we have a chance. We apologize as a nation for our ignorance.
I wasn't trying to insult you, or your nation, for that matter. If you took it to heart, I can't do much about it. I was just baffled because I had seen it spelled with a "u" so many times, I begin to wonder whether that was the correct spelling in English. Relax, mate! Metro
It's a new time to step it up for the Copa America for every NT. It's unkown as of today, if the next CA will be in 2009 or 2011. What is known is that the 07' CA winner will provide a tix to the conf. cup in '09, which is gaining in prestige and will also boost confidence and strength with the teams that reach the final 4. With all this in mind, LET'S STOP with the CA, "b","c" team talk. It's really pretty ridiculous as there is NO TEAM that is 100% set with a solid 11 guys. Of all the teams that are playing in the Copa AMerica AND participated in the WC 2006, ONLY ECUADOR, remains with the same system and same coach ..that includes the US who I would think is REVAMPING their team considering they had a poor outing and technically don't even have a true NT coach as of yet. Case and point, people may think Peru isnt' a Peru "a" team without Farfan, Pizarro, etc., yet these guys did next to nothing in their WQC and also don't have a NT coach. Ecuador has qualified DIRECTLY 2X to the WC with a bunch of 'no names' in the int'l football world. So you say a US without Convey, Dempsey would not be the US "a" team....come off of it. Who knows what the new NT coach will want and expect. Who knows what new talent may appear in the next 6 months. Reality is, CA is still a top tournament, and it marks the beginning of a long WCQ. It also puts on display the national pride that south americans feel for their respective countries. If your NT choses to come and play then they should give it their all. Our "European exports" mean nothing if they don't show the passion and love for country.
I was joking my friend. I was just trying to explain why I stupidly spelled Colombia wrong. This is going to be a great Copa. I fear, though, that the US is not going to bring its best team. I suspect we'll use our best team to win the Gold Cup, which is after all the championship of our own confederation.
looks like some people still refuse to beleive the US sucks... This is just proof that Nike can hype the sh!t out anything.
