Chris. Our thoughts are with you today. edit: My folks' favorite song from our many years of mass: "And He will raise you up on eagle's wings, Bear you on the breath of dawn. Make you to shine like the sun, And hold you in the palm of His Hand."
Just catching up... I cannot imagine. Just looked at all the pictures and the rest. Give your kids a extra squeeze tonight. You just simply never know. As everyone else has said way more eloquently than I ever could, whatever you need @chr1st, let us know.
This was a hymn sung at my wife's father's funeral. To this day, my wife tears up when it is sung at mass. May you find comfort and solace, Chris.
Quick update. Straight from the realest fan, his son was released from the hospital. In the process of recuperation.
Would be really nice if we could have some involvement with the Crew doing some things for the family during this very difficult time
Thank you for the update. Good news is always welcome. All thoughts of good will to their families and everyone else who has suffered tragic loss recently.
There is an update on the GoFundMe Page.... Mostly positive.... https://www.gofundme.com/f/mcbride-...m_campaign=p_email+1137-update-supporters-v5b
@chr1st ’s wife posted an update. I hope the funds can help your families begin to rebuild and create great family memories. All our love!
All the best thoughts and love to the families. And, thank you all for keeping this a place that brings out the best the beautiful game can offer, when it's needed. We are the game. The game is all of us. Below is lyrics to a song written for two high school soccer players who passed much too soon, also in a tragic accident, and more recently, a close friend's son who was taken by the horror that is the opioid crisis. A link to a very poorly sung version of the song is below the lyrics. I'm a writer, not a singer. The Window Shatters Your stand by the window, unable to move, but wanting to try Afraid of cold space where soul’s yearning resides Think back to the rain falling pure through the sky You were fearless and free, not stripped by life’s lies Not stripped by life’s lies Open the window, the rain starts again It pools on the floor, each drop your lost friend Outside as the rain, face turned to the clouds, Your friend’s sharing your pain, in the silence so loud But he’s more than drops or ocean unbound He is loving words for a soul’s broken sound He’s helping hands for those in need And a silent vessel hearing painful deeds He is still all of these, but so much more And will forever be in life’s infinite sea Because, you touched his being, and he spread your love To each person he met, like a tender dove And somewhere between flesh and memory, is the courage to swim In deep ocean of fear and heart’s fire gone dim If you reach through the window, the drops will not burn They’re my shimmering soul, take hold, don’t let go Together again, we run down the street To the park where we played, our fear we can meet In daylight’s last gasp, we fall to the ground Laughing at the dreams dancing all around You push me on the swing and I fly higher than the moon Tag, you’re it, we’ll never leave too soon Care’s hand gripping mine, we race shadow and light Faster and faster, until heart’s fire ignites Under sweltering trees, as out hearts beat as one I remind you of love, and you recapture your son Because, you touched my being, and I spread your love To each person I met, like a tender dove And somewhere between us, flesh and memory, is the courage to swim In deep ocean of fear and heart’s fire gone dim For bound together, we will ever return To belief and trust so lovingly earned (Spoken Word) (Darkness arrives and the window’s still closed Your fingers touch glass, heart wanting to flow Still afraid of cold space where soul’s yearning resides I am falling forever, streaming hand on the pain Our fear is failing, washing away as my rain I reach for a stone, raise it high in the storm…) Because, you touched my being, and I spread your love To each person I met, like a tender dove And somewhere between us, flesh and memory, is the courage to swim In deep ocean of fear and heart’s fire gone dim For bound together, we will ever return To belief and trust so lovingly earned (Spoken Word) (The window shatters…)
Yes. The best I can wish for Chris and his family is that they have the best Christmastime in light of the tragedy they have suffered this year. Our hearts and thoughts, @chr1st.
Almost all my time at Mass was in the days of Latin being used as the language of the Mass. Although I did take two years of Latin in high school,I was far from fluent in Latin! The addition of English, quitars and shaking hands did not strengthen my desire to attend Mass!
Although this thread was created for @chr1st and his families for the tragedy they went through, we also have the Guzman family, also good Crew supporters, who lost two kids in a traffic accident last week. Let the spirit of Christmas provide some peace to all three families affected this year.
jesus, its been almost a year. im sure it must feel like only yesterday for you @chr1st . we still love you and are still thinking of you!
This isn't nearly enough but thank you. All of you. Despite all the suffering, I cannot adequately express how much comfort and joy this community has brought me over these last two years. Thank you, thank you, thank you for all the support each and every one of you has given to the Jasko and McBride families. I love y'all.
