Tonight, with the large crowd and team energy on the pitch, took me back several years. Reminded me about everything that I love about the Crew. A really nice win to start the holiday week.
Researched my own question and learned the answer. Not the FO, the true Crew fans showing that you can remove the items, but you can't remove our passion and voice (cue Braveheart memes) <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">ATTN <a href="https://twitter.com/ColumbusCrewSC?ref_src=twsrc^tfw">@ColumbusCrewSC</a> FO you can have the banners, the smoke, and the capo stands but you cannot take our voice. We don’t need them. Tomorrow we will stand loud and proud as we have been all season despite your lack for wanting to keep us or our beloved club in our great city.</p>— Hudson St. Hooligans (@HSHCrew) <a href="ATTN @ColumbusCrewSC FO you can have the banners, the smoke, and the capo stands but you cannot take our voice. Let's not make too much out of this. Yes, Phil West from Austin wrote the recap on mlssoccer.com--but if you look at his profile, he's been writing recaps for teams all over the league: https://www.mlssoccer.com/author/phil-west The recap on the Crew website is written by Megan Scribner, who is a Buckeye.
Thank you for the added info. I tried to click on his name, but mobile viewing sucks. Add in my two-year-old is enamored with her brother’s Legos...
Great first half, sloppy second. Still, a much needed win without our two best players (Pipa & Steffen). Sauro returns to starting and looks pretty good. Sosa's first goal is a beauty. And Argudo continues to look good. Plus a great, mostly family friendly crowd. A good night.
Not much to add to this... That string of possession in the 80' looked really good though, considering no Pipa to coordinate it. Yes, it was a good night. Good response by the supporters.
A couple major promotions, good (albeit hot) weather and it proves that T0ny Pr3c0ur+ is a liar when he plays the "no fans" card. As far as that "Code of Conduct" business? The Nordecke told them where to shove it.
Nothing against the Capos, but I became very nostalgic without them. First time I left with a hoarse voice in many years. Without them carrying the chants, the supporters stepped up. Warmed my old supporter heart with how loud the section sounded. Though I am not sure how it sounded outside of the section (and that is always the true test). Great night in the section and Crew Stadium.
We endured nine minutes of stoppage, after forfeiting the momentum. The Crew did - knowing what we know about such situations. The depth or our fortitude has reached a new level.
Sounded good from 126 I think we need more sections to be that loud. Imagine a entire stadium that loud ( ever been to the horseshoe ?) anyways the physical location of Nordecke is not the best.
It's a lot easier to be loud when you have 100K fans.... However, the loudest I think I ever experienced in a stadium (and I've been to the some of the biggest ones--Big House, Beaver, the Shoe, the Rose Bowl, and Bryant-Denny) was when Wynalda scored in Detroit. Mind you, the dome reflected the noise. Second probably was tOSU vs PSU in a Whiteout in 2005 (though the ND and Texas games at the Shoe a number of years back were pretty loud as well). The Big House seems to let the noise escape as there's not much to reflect it back in
When we get a new stadium we need to name each section and have unified chants and be louder. Even at sell outs Crew stadium isn’t loud enough because fans, some will only get loud if encourages and that includes me
I've been a fan of Sosa since he showed up in preseason. I'm impressed with his confidence and close control. He and Argudo are very pleasant additions to the roster. Both need to pick up the pace of their decisions though. Each has on many occasions, including several in the RSL match delayed making a pass or committed to making a dribbling move 1 or 2 touches to long. I'm enjoying watching them both though. Sosa's goal was very nice.
I was suprised to see Sosa in this gm and not sooner when we had all those gms in a short period. Vrs LAFC Higuain was not hustling and I would have been rotating these guys a lil more. Higuaín is clearly better with vision, experience but on tired legs it’s irrelevant. Sosa brings a energy this team needs. Hopefully we see much more of him.
