Well, it's a cr*pshoot. But the one thing I hated was the gamesmanship by the F*re goalie. Should have been carded--especially on the last PK.
Oh, shut up. They played their ********ing stars. We ran out some dude who couldn't throw himself in front of a train.
This is Ketterers 2nd year as our reserve keeper. Probably time to let him go this offseason. Dont forget we have Lundgaard who we drafted, as well. I wonder if we'll possibly, eventually sign Ohio State GK Parker Siegfried to a homegrown contract.
Ketterer was so spooked by that point I am surprised he didn't fall to the ground crying. If Ketterer had half the balls or confidence of the Sanchez, then Sanchez wouldn't have tried that. But Sanchez looked at Ketterer and saw a pathetic wilting flower and knew he could get in his head. Good for him. He's a competitor.
Nope, I'm good looking and there is no party. 3G made sure of that. International call ups are enough of a distraction. Back to regular nail biting and programming.
Sanchez is a U-17 world champion. Ketterer was probably a pretty good high school player who got a partial college scholarship.
Looking back, any Open Cup game where no one tears an ACL or anything is a good game for me. On to the league it is.
Thanks to the National Team. When your no. 1 keeper is away, I can see why you would not play your no. 2. It's not like their keeper made all that many PK saves either--that's why it ended 10-9. Yeah, he made two--and that was enough--but it's still a cr*pshoot. As far as Chicago playing their stars is concerned, how much impact did Schweinsteiger, for one, have on the game? Our kids gave a really good effort. Heck, Chicago can afford to play their stars--they're going to have trouble making the playoffs as it is. I get that this is a painful loss. I've been realizing most of last night and this morning that it might be the last Open Cup match I ever get to see.
Eh, I don't think that stuff has any place in the game--it was very close to taunting (if not over the line). You do stuff like that on a free kick during the course of a game and a card often comes out. Being a competitor does not give you the right to be unsportsmanlike.
I liked some of what I saw from Sosa. But fitness was an issue for him. He was absolutely done with 10 minutes to go in regulation. I was surprised he was able to walk up to take his penalty. As friend to the forum, Flick, said last night, we haven't beaten an MLS team in the open cup since Sept. 10, 2010. Our June schedule just got lighter at least. On to Saturday.
your third choice keeper should only ever play in case of injury/red card. you play your no. 1 in all league games and once you get past round of 16 in cups. you play your no. 2 in league games/NT duty. you play your no 3 in an emergency.
I get that--but this is the case of a missing no. 1. If your no. 2 is hurt in that Cup game, you are down to your no. 3 for an important league match. Now, I'm not saying this is the best way to go. I probably would have gone with our no. 2 anyway. But it was also a no. 2 who gave up three to Chicago. So, the move is defendable.
He was Mexico's starting keeper when they won the 2011 U-17 championship. Crew need to find a better backup than Kempin if Steffen is going to be called up frequently.
No, we would just recall Steffen if we'd played Kempin and he got hurt last night. I'm sure Zack would want to play vs France but it's a friendly and rather than call in a pool keeper, we'd take back our starter.
That's asking for rather quick travel combined with jet lag. Not sure it happens. Again, I'm not saying I would do it the way GGG did. But it's not unreasonable.
