I wasnt aware that Moderator is a hereditary position. Like Queen of Romania or President of North Korea. Explains a lot. And no, im not going to further explore either one of those corollaries. On the other hand, the recent demolition of the MLS N&A Forum at the hands of moderators is both a warning and a sad reminder of what used to be. Their arrogant and entirely subjective politicization of the place would never have been tolerated even five years ago. Now it's SOP. Demanding rigid ideological conformity is not how you bring back intelligent, rational members. Get woke, go broke.
I was unsure whether discussion of the Capos would be allowed. Dissent is a terrible thing. One group will complain you are un-Crewvillan and it is not the time to bring up this issue when we have larger fish to fry, while the other side will say this thread is about the match and not about our thoughts on Capos. Damned if you do, I guess. I hold no sway over Mister Foos. Though I always enjoyed him as a mod on this board. Fiddy as well. To be honest and again forgive me for being repetitive, but I have a high opinion of hardhead. I was asking that while I was watching the game. I would like to get him back into our D ASAP. Understood. I remember being pissed off at calls a whole lot more than I was happy with positive calls for Crew. However, I have distractions while at games so perhaps I missed some of the favorable calls. Thank you, puttputt.
You seem obsessed with the Kekuta Manneh thing, so let's clear up a few things. I never said he was the greatest thing since sliced bread (or even that he was better than Justin Meram). I said he gave the team another weapon, and if used correctly would greatly improve the Crew. Oddly throughout your obsession you seem mostly concerned on what he did in Vancouver or Pachuca. I can understand why, glossing over his usage in Columbus doesn't fit your narrative. In his limited usage last season, he was our most productive winger not named Justin Meram. If I was a coach, maybe I'd try to use that guy more! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ As for Grella, this is another guy I said who was better than our other options there. He's a better option than Martinez or Hansen. And he's consistently produced in MLS at a higher level than what we have seen out of 20 plus games of Pedro Santos. But since we are looking at what ex Crew wingers have done since they left Columbus, let's take a look at what coward, snake, and quitter Justin Meram has done in Orlando since begging his way out of town cause he didn't want to deal with the uncertainty of the move. Zero goals and 3 assists in nearly 600 minutes? Grella has played 30 minutes coming off an injury and scored a goal. Look, at the end of the year Justin "The Cowardly Lion of Mesopotamia" Meram may have better stats than Grella. I'd place money on that. I actually think that quitter is a better player. What I am saying is that Grella has produced every season when healthy in MLS and has shown to be a more reliable bet than the misfit toys and underwhelming DP's that Berhalter has been insistent on using for the better part of a year.
While I am glad pipa is gonna be around one more year......... He just isn't that good anymore. He has moments of quality, but many more of sub par touches, passes, and vision. I believe his role needs to be steadily reduced over the coming months. Maybe Grella or Sosa get occasional start at CAM? Ref was garbage. Lalas loses his man a lot. Mensah is mensah. Sauro should get starts ASAP. It worked, but Gregg's subs as always leave something to be desired. Taking out zardes for jahn makes zero sense. take off a cb for a striker. preferably lalas. Gregg will always make a like for like sub, unless we need a win, at which point he usually does a attacker for defender. We have one style, one method, one answer. You counter that, he does not/can not adapt to the game.
I feel compelled to mention, as is my custom, that San Jose's needlessly-British announcer is an utter and complete babbling fool.
Normally I'd agree, but this guy was just... the worst I've seen - his calls and non-calls actually had me laughing at the stadium they were so bad. And that includes Petrescu.
@kgilbert78 - In the mod off, you are awarded points for: 1) pointing out my misstep 2) being off topic in a match thread. However, the other two are currently ahead of you because you lost points from not chiding posters for going off topic and then you yourself going off topic. Judges would also have appreciated some colorful language and fake indignation. You still have time to take the lead. I believe in you.
Listen -- strange women responding on boards distributing points is no basis for a system of moderation. Supreme moderative power derives from a mandate from the masses, not from some farcical digital ceremony.
You can’t expect to wield supreme moderating power just because some on-line tart lobbed a compliment at you. I mean, if I went ‘round, saying I was a supermod, just because some poster had lobbed a thumbs-up at me, they’d put me away!
Higuain can certainly be frustrating. But haven't we said this (the bolded part) about him for years? He had, arguably, his most productive season was the Crew last year. And 33 isn't exactly ancient. The back-heel, one-timed passes that often miss the mark, yeah, they can be pretty damned maddening. Except when they work, of course. I have to assume that the dramatic change in attacking personnel surrounding him doesn't help his overall level of play. And he's never been the kind of player who can carry the team on his own shoulders. All in all, though, I think we're lucky to have him.
Have you guys noticed that as the game wears on, players off the ball look more and more surprised the ball is coming to them? It's like their soccer brains are shutting down. "Oh shit, he passed to me - what do I do??"
Denial after the fact. I nominated you to the powers-that-be months ago to fill the vacancy. With your actions today, you have further vindicated that I have flawless judgment.
I wondered who suggested me. I was (and am) very flattered. Sadly, I don’t have the time. I can hardly keep up with the Crew to Oz-tin thread!(Especially on Fridays!!)
I could never tell from the movie ( or from the YouTube clip this morning) what the peasant was calling her. I’ve never heard of a bint. Learn something new every day!
