Columbus Crew SC Grouchy Point Contest 2016 What is it? A silly little contest I created about 47 years ago as a distraction to the woes the Columbus Crew were suffering and to predict when the head coach (GA) would get fired. Who can play? Anyone but realistically, if you are not a Crew fan what are you even doing here? How it works Make a poll selection in any of the pre-match threads or statistical/standings prediction threads. If you guessed correctly, you get a Grouchy point. If you didn't, no points. Whoever has the most points after the last game (MLS or Open Cup) the Crew plays this year wins. What do I win? Nothing. Jack ****. Nobody remembers past winners so why should 2017 be the exception. Shouldn't there be something? Probably. But, awarding something of any value brings with it required effort and the potential for controversy. Seriously, in this day and age and this being on the Internet there would be at least one a-hole who would go out of their way to make things difficult. Last season I considered a sixpack of something to the winner to be awarded at the first home game but didn't want to encourage alcohol abuse or consumption in a parking lot. I thought about making a trophy out out of papier-mâché and chewed gum and spray painting it gold but then I need to award it to someone, get it back, award it again, etc. If it's tied at the end who wins? Who cares. Feel free to meet in the parking lot of MAPFRE Stadium and flip a coin, draw a high card or play rochambeau. But the poll closed before I could make a selection... Tough noogies. Is there a Grouchy prediction thread with lots of bets? I see the first red card thread but not the usual ones about leading scorer, midseason place in the standings, etc.

It's true that hangthadj is sitting at the top of the table, but we should take into account that his strength of schedule has been very weak....
Just wanted to point out that we haven't even played any of the six worst teams in the league at the moment. Good thing we got that easiest opening schedule in league history this year.

Note; this will be the last update until the season has finished. Life sometimes gets in the way (nothing major).
