Talk about disingenuous. We're 10th overall in points per game, 5th in the East. Thank goodness we've played two more games than most of the league so we can pump up those points and look good on the table. And, up until June, we had a light schedule as far as opponents go. Of our eight wins this season, only three have come against teams above the playoff line. Our best result of the season may have been the 0-0 tie in KC. That is not good. We're a middling team, not a good team. But, hey, let us all bask in the glory of mediocrity.
To me, "not good" means worse than mediocre. I agree with "middling". But we've been decent at home. Not perfect, but decent. Bad on the road is what has hurt this season. Unless the definition of "good" is "perfect". But this isn't college football.
Going to give NY Dong Arbers their first loss at home this season! Going all in! Not debating what good versus not good versus mediocre means! Grooooouuuuchy Points.
away at a better team, on a small patch of turf doesn't seem like it bodes well. At the same time, I feel like we're due to win one of these. Still voting lose by 1, but wouldn't be shocked to see us win by two either.
that .125 Goals per away game we're averaging makes winning by 2 seem like a tall order. I'd love a shutout. The defense needs to get "back in the New York groove"
Congrats, puke! You've been drafted into the Grouchy™ Point Pre-Match Poll Platoon. Now, drop and give me 20 clever voting options before the Crew's next match.
1. The Lion Sleeps Tonight - Orlando gets no shots on goal 2. Past Austin vs Future Austin - 5-5 Draw where the Deputy Commissioner of MLS decides the final winner 3. It's a Small World After All - Meram scores a goal off a Higuain turnover 4. The ESPN+ Special - This 2 point answer is actually worth zero points for previously unreleased reasons. That's for starters...
Updates!! NYCFC played at the midweek, destroying Montreal to the tune of 3-0. Maybe they'll be super exhausted (hahaha). The injury report lists David Villa, Ismael Tajouri-Shradi, and Jo Inge Berget as questionable. Them boys account for 22 goals scored on the season. Ya boy, @hangthadj, will be in attendance at the ol' ballpark, upping the lads right proper. So, we will probably give up 7 goals. Woooooo! Any pregame drink recommendations?
Won't be able to watch this one. Pretenders/Def Leppard/Journey concert at Wrigley Field. There are rumors swirling around tough of a @Hamburgler03 appearance next weekend in Columbus though.
Well it turns out I won't be there tonight. Any East Coast Ultra knows never to get a New York City train with a bit of an off stomach in 90 degree heat, let alone take the 85 minute train ride from Beacon to the city. Lose by 2.
