We need to win both games remaining. I wanted to finish 2nd to stay away from Germany but now it seems like they might be 2nd or eliminated Guys we lost because of nerves(blame shit coaching(mexico had young debuting players as well. As did Iceland against much better teams) and bad luck to give up a pk and lose a player for 90 minutes With better players alone we almost tied and lost because Pekerman went to win the game and made 2 awful choices when making his subs. 3 attacking guys out there with a super tired defense and MF and no one to give them the ball was a bone head move. Tho would have been genius if it worked and we won
I am trying to remain optimistic Hopefully we can pull a Spain and rattle off some victories and get confidence but we have to play smarter and better.
really nothing else we can do but cheer on. Reminds me of that Paraguay loss at home where all of a sudden we needed a result @ Peru. If there is some positive it's that the goal differential is minimal.
A draw against Poland - keeps us on life support A loss against Poland - time to focus on Copa America 2019 A win against Poland - We are back on track, but not in the driver's seat You are correct about the nerves - Japan knew we would be nervous b/c we have a tendency to start games in sleep mode / nervousness, and they were pressing us from the opening whistle. They brought the game to us in the opening 3 minutes and got an opportunity of a lifetime and capitalized on it. Kudos to them for having us well scouted and not the other way around. Pekerman exercised some arrogance with his choice of lineup given the lineups used in the 5 friendlies after the qualifiers. Hopefully Uribe-Lerma; Davinson-Mina (even though Davinson was the bigger disappointment yesterday). Cuadrado-James; Falcao-Muriel: with Muriel we have a hybrid 4-2-2-2 / 4-2-3-1
We came back from a 2-0 losing result to a 2-3 winning result against france, we can get a solid win against Poland. I imagine James is motivating the team as we speak as he hates to lose.
not for nothing, James needs to calm tempers too... I felt he unnecessarily got a yellow yesterday, he can't get another yellow.... (in this phase)
He's a competitor and you can tell he was frustrated that he couldnt do more. I feel the guy is playing hurt. Still lots to play for and while I think what JFQ pulled out of his arse with that free kick was magic, he's not the answer.
yea he was frustrated.... he wasn't getting good play from his teammates... a lot of bad passes towards him and bad touches by teammates...
Not to be a buzzkill, but apart from the France game (which was a friendly) what has the team done lately to have you feeling so confident? I feel that although we have the talent to win out, its blatantly obvious that this team has not been playing well as a unit. Until something changes I can’t help but to expect the usual Colombia self-destruction that we’ve soon all too many times before. If the team picks it up and makes it out of the group, that will show how far our football has come.
Well aside from being undefeated against European teams since Pekerman took over, we showed drive despite being down a goal and a man at least until we equalized. Poland didn't play with heart nor passion making me assume that their drive and desire to succeed can really influence their form. Also, we're ********ing Colombia hijueputa!
Colombia's Foreign Office has reminded fans to behave themselves while in Russia after a group of Colombian supporters used a pair of false binoculars to smuggle liquor into yesterday's Japan game.https://t.co/zwxsDdtxvE— Carl Worswick (@cworswick) June 20, 2018 One of these dudes lost their job
At least the refs aren't making it more difficult than it needs to be but there are questionable moments where they should have called for the usage.
You’re not wrong. I guess that’s why it’s called “questionable” if refs use it every time there is something questionable then the game will be slowed down. Can’t use VAR for every single moment. the Iran off sides goal reversal was a good use of VAR though. i'm more concerned that the use of VAR doesn't result in an incorrect final decision.
49 - Iran's 🇮🇷 49 successful passes in the 1st half is the 2nd lowest figure in a World Cup 🏆 game since 1966, with the lowest also being Iran (47 versus Argentina in 2014). Bus.#WorldCup #IRNESP pic.twitter.com/zvJz8bzfJM— OptaJean (@OptaJean) June 20, 2018
Why can’t teams challenge tho. Like tell the ref to rewatch the Sanchez play and be like wtf was he suppose to do with his arm....
Probably bc managers like Jaime Lannister from moracoo will pull a sword out and kill a ref! On the while it seems to be working fine. Have you seen any major mistakes by the use of VAR?
