this is exactly waht is wrong w/ rivalry

and exactly why it sucks. the mods don't do jack shit and it's their attitude that sets the tone for the whole forum.

new admins need to be put in place, i think andymead and redcard offered to take this roll. currently, anything is better than the present mods...

Moreover, Segroves is about to have a baby girl, which will allow him the feminine perspective necessary for such a task.

Whereas the choice of Segroves as Women's Rivalry moderator has always been a given, it now has seemingly been ordained by God.

Oh yeah, for the sake of keeping this thread on a more serious nature, can we please DROP the Mike Segroves as mod debate?

It's not going to happen. Read one of the last posts by Segroves in that forum. Jesse and him talked about it. And he ain't exactly mod now, is he?

We want a new forum, new rules, new mods that actually care.

Leave me outta this, daddy-o. In the heat of the moment I offered to help Mikey out if he was made mod. I'm not sure I was serious, and I certainly wasn't looking to be sherrif. I've done my hard time in USMN&A and B&M.

    I wish. THOSE look yummylishus.

Since the topic here is getting tired, let me quickly describe Buck-A-Brat:

The Johnsonville Brat people (are they nationwide - I know they're all over the East Coast) bring in a huge Tractor-Trailer. Part of the apparatus is an enormous vat. They boil (BOIL for God's sake) 15,000 or so Brats and then, when all flavor has been removed, they scoop them, soaking wet, into cheap store-brand-style hot dog buns to make sure the bun gets completely soaked in water too, so that it loses any shape it might have had.

Then they wrap each one in a piece of foil and pile tham about 500 high in big boxes. By the time you get your hands on one of these babies, there's really no reason to eat it.

So while I know that the rest of MLS consoles itself over the Crew's midweek attendance figures by reassuring each other that it's really about the sausage, let me just put your mind at ease:

No one, absolutely NO ONE, would fight their way up I 71 at rush hour, pay $7 to park the car, and $18 apiece for tickets in order to stand in a line for ten minutes just to get one of these delights for a dollar.

I always have a few. Most everybody does, mostly because they're there. But the ones in your picture bear absolutely no resemblance.

Isn't it up to the posters to set the tone for the forum and the mods only real responsibility is to oversee that crap and to intervene when necessary?

You guys need the bacon-wrapped hot dogs we get in the Rose Bowl parking lot after games. The health inspector stopped chasing them away this year, so the party is back on!

It's a fairly typical Dodger Dog, but wrapped with delicious bacon and covered with grilled vegetables, mayonnaise, jalapenos, and Christ only knows what else, because the county health inspector never will. All this for only three dollars!

They do have their downside. The reason our attendance declined so much from 1996 to 1997? Heart disease. The reason we've sustained attendance, instead of increased? The hot dogs kill them off as fast as Carlos Ruiz can bring them in.

But it's a small price to pay. Thank you, illegal immigration, for making the Southern California soccer experience the best and finest in the nation.

There's something not kosher about mixing Hebrew National with bacon and cheese.

    In a way, yes.

But look at it this way -- if I had swayed to the opinions of one or two people in the Beat forum, the KK thread would never have existed (despite it's new locale), the PG-13 posts would be edited, we'd never post pictures of players, all visiting posters from other teams would be labeled and punished as trolls and every single thread would be kept on topic or locked.

Not a very fun place at all. Which is what the rivalry forum has become.

They've tried to accomodate every single poster (give or take a few threads started by mls fans) and it's not worked.

Why can't we start from scratch?

I understand Sigi is personally putting the guy's kid through college.

<small>This picture blatently ripped off from AndyMead's personal <strike>escort</strike> photo service which is called Yellow Journalism, a play on the newspaper tactics of the early 20th Century which resulted in the Spanish American war, which has nothing to do with Soccer, or "Footy" as Andy would have it. I think this picture was taken by Mr Wade Jackson, but that might be a pseudonym Andy uses, or maybe Andy is really Mike Lastort in drag - who can say for sure? Anyway, I just wanted to give credit where credit is due because Andy has this Law Firm that comes to your house and is mean to you in front of your dog if you rip off his photos without giving him his props and saying a few kind words about the filthy rag he "publishes" (meaning he gets to sniff each page as it comes off the mimeograph. Remember that? Man, that was great, except when the teacher did the "Take one and pass the rest back" thing I always ended up in a row behind guys like Segorves and Topper who'd sniff each page before they passed it back so when I got them they always had, like, goobers on them. Nasty.) Anyway, Andy, thanks for letting me post your picture. Give Andy a shout and subscribe to the <color=green><u>Emerald City Gazette</u></color> because it's the right thing to do. Thanks.</small>
