Just got back from the Rally--ran into several folks walking by that didn't know we had an MLS team here I told them to come celebrate with the rest of us.
I'm back from the Rally. 1. free food for the first 200 fans? Hah! Free food for the first 200 city hall employees. 2. Decent crowd but almost as many reporters as non-reporters and not enough fans. Very few actual fans and quite a few people who stood around during the rally. (Or stayed in line to get food) I'm not knocking anyone who couldn't make it because I know what that's like. 3. We did get to unfurl the Texian Army banner at the front of the crowd. Look for it on your local newscast. 4. There is no number 4. 5. The Dynamo Band was there. I don't think I can add anything to that. 6. Troutseth and I were interviewed by a female reporter from 790 who asked us how long we had been season ticket holders. When we said all season she asked how many years. That set the intellectual tone for the interview. I know lots of other Texian Army members got interviewed by various media. 7. We heard from Glenn Davis, City Councilman Adrian Moreno, assistant coach John Spencer and Mayor White. Players in attendance: Ale Moreno, Paul Dalglish, Brad Davis, Craig Waibel, Ryan Cochrane, Kelly Gray, and Zach Wells. I think I got everyone.
Ah, the wonderful informed media!!! Guess there might be a very tiny number of Dynamo fans who used to live in the Bay Area and followed the team when they moved to Houston.
very true, the wings were good though not enough fans, mainly office people in line to get the free food. rally didnt last a whole lot, it was ok too many reporters, imo, but it was ok i saw sam getting interviewed, and that was about it. i went up to the dnyamo band and told them to play the dale dale dale, dale dal dale daleee houston dale dale dale, dale dal dale daleee dynamooooooo surprised, they know it pretty well
No wings for me-but I did snooker a free Dr. Pepper. That's awesome about how many years have you been a season tix holder-I wish I saw your faces. Observations: definitely not a lot of fans-but a lot of city employees-what is it with this city and free food-when the Astros had their free hto dog pep rally a few season back everyone showed up for the dogs and no one even listed to Bags or Biggio-same thing today-most people were like "give me my free food". What was up with Garcia saying we are going to be world champs? We need to educate people that winning MLS is definitely not considered being world champs. We'd have problmes just in our own hemispere. Is it me or does Zach Wells not like Houston (the city, not the team)? Just a drift I get from him.
Why on earth did they send someone that doesn't know the facts? Then again, male or female, plenty of Houston reporters seem to not know how to write about MLS or the Dynamo.
Thanks to everyone who came out. Sorry about getting to the food before you but it was FREE!(i didn't get any food either) It's really funny cuz everyone is so friendly at the games, events, and this forum that I feel like I know most of you. Then as I say hi to everyone today some of yall were like... who are you lol Like I said before anything that comes across my desk i'll post it. I can't wait for Sunday!!!!!!!!!!
It was their morning show. They had argued yesterday why no one goes to soccer games in the US . . . she was not a soccer reporter just trying to find out what the noise was about.
I'll confess I have no idea who you are. I'm terrible with names and even worse in this situation where people have a "real" name and a board name. I'm reasonably good with faces but only in the sense of "I've seen that person before.". No worries about the food. I could have got some if I stayed in line but it just irked me that the first huge bunch of people in line were people from city hall who had absolutely no interest in the Dynamo or the rally.
That's why you have to introduce yourself by your BigSoccer name or wear something that everybody recognizes.
That's why it's good to be one of the few girls on the board. Most everyone sees me and goes, "galaxykat?"
That reminds me, I've been asked several times to bring the figurine. I think he might just make an appearance on the trip to Dallas.
No, that is just how Zach is. He likes the city and is just waiting in line to be "the man" in the back of the goal in Houston next year.
I look for it before the weekend. Hopefully, my mom hasn't stashed it somewhere...she tends to hide my stuff.
Hey, we win MLS Cup, then qualify for and win the Concacaf CC, then qualify and win the FIFA world club cup. There you go - world champions. Craig Waibel World Tour!!!1!!!11!!!!1!!
