We're now at the stage, different to previous editions, where we break into the knockout rounds to determine overall winners etc and the teams that didn't make the knockout stages (4 nations) play in a round robin group to determine overall 9th to 12th positions.

    9th to 12th

The focus for most of the Asian teams land here.

    24.01 Turkmenistan - Krygyzstan
    24.01 Tajikistan - Estonia

    26.01 Estonia - Turkmenistan
    26.01 Krygyzstan - Tajikistan

    28.01 Turkmenistan - Tajikistan
    28.01 Estonia - Krygyzstan

    Quarter-Finals

    All games played on 26.01

    Iran - Latvia
    Kazakhstan - Belarus
    Ukraine - Lithuania
    Russia - Moldova

Losers go into 5th to 8th placed positioning matches, this means another two games per nation. Same for losing semi finalists.

I think I misworded when I said Iran U21. According to PFDC the bulk of the Iranian team comprises of U19 but with some U21 players also in the squad. Anyway doesnt matter much, just wanted to correct.

    @Nurafshon
I thought it was a real shame Uzbekistan was not invited/participating. Hopefully next time. I dont know if this Cup is an annual thing or every two years or what.

It is/was annual when clubsides played, but now it's dedicated to youth teams. Should still be annual.

The road to final for Iran is going to be tough. First Latvia in the quarter final and if we pass that test, then we face the winner off Russia-Moldova match. But whatever happens I'll be satisfied, this is a good tournament for international experience and this team can potentially form the bulk of olympic team in the future.

Of course UZB was invited as always, but somehow they refused, no one knows the real reason, why.
Many teams brought - 1990 born players like RUS, KZK, Moldova and others, but there r also some teams with - 1992 born players Belarus, 1993 born players Iran.
And we don't have NT with 1990 born players, but we have NT with 1991 and 1993 born players. We could participate with one of them(((

Iran finishes 5th. Russia defeated Belarus in the final (dont know by what score)

Top scorer of the tournament was Iran's Sardar Azmoun with 7 goals. We had a good run, with scoring 16 goals while only conceding one. Too bad we couldt reach all the way.

Yes, Uzbekistan will participate with that team which reached to semi-finals of Asian U19 Championship. This tournament was almost dead, good that they changed the format.

It's given the national youth teams some good match practice and also makes the coach have to rotate his team as theirs so many games played in such a short space of time.

I did like the club teams entering, but off course some sides didn't take it seriously and had to make way for what we see now.

    Results from Saturday and Sunday

    Group A:
    Estonia 1:2 Belarus
    Tajikstan 1:0 Latvia

Belarus and Tajikistan make the next round. Well done Tajikistan!

    Group B:
Uzbekistan 1:0 Kazakhstan - the big battle of Central Asia
    Russia 0:0 Kyrgyzstan

Uzbekistan are through. Kyrgyzstan might make it as a best 3rd placed side.

    Group C:
    Ukraine 3:0 Lithuania
    Moldova 2:1 Turkmenistan
    Moldova 0:2 Ukraine
    Lithuania 0:0 Tukrmenistan

Turkmenistna can still do it, but need to beat Ukraine which will be a hard task in itself.
