I think I misworded when I said Iran U21. According to PFDC the bulk of the Iranian team comprises of U19 but with some U21 players also in the squad. Anyway doesnt matter much, just wanted to correct. @Nurafshon I thought it was a real shame Uzbekistan was not invited/participating. Hopefully next time. I dont know if this Cup is an annual thing or every two years or what.
It is/was annual when clubsides played, but now it's dedicated to youth teams. Should still be annual.
The road to final for Iran is going to be tough. First Latvia in the quarter final and if we pass that test, then we face the winner off Russia-Moldova match. But whatever happens I'll be satisfied, this is a good tournament for international experience and this team can potentially form the bulk of olympic team in the future.
Of course UZB was invited as always, but somehow they refused, no one knows the real reason, why. Many teams brought - 1990 born players like RUS, KZK, Moldova and others, but there r also some teams with - 1992 born players Belarus, 1993 born players Iran. And we don't have NT with 1990 born players, but we have NT with 1991 and 1993 born players. We could participate with one of them(((
Quarter Final Results: Kazakhstan 2:3 Belarus Iran 1:1 Latvia (Latvia on Pens) Russia 2:1 Moldova Ukraine 1:1 Lithuania (Ukraine on Pens) Iran meet Moldova next.
9th to 12th places are now done. 24.01 Turkmenistan 1 - 3 Krygyzstan 24.01 Tajikistan 1 - 1 Estonia 26.01 Estonia 3 - 0 Turkmenistan 26.01 Krygyzstan 3 - 1 Tajikistan 28.01 Turkmenistan 1 - 1 Tajikistan 28.01 Estonia 0 - 2 Krygyzstan 9th: Krygyzstan 10th: Estonia 11th: Tajikistan 12th: Turkmenistan
Iran 4 - 0 Lithaunia Iran finishes 5th. Russia defeated Belarus in the final (dont know by what score) Top scorer of the tournament was Iran's Sardar Azmoun with 7 goals. We had a good run, with scoring 16 goals while only conceding one. Too bad we couldt reach all the way.

It's given the national youth teams some good match practice and also makes the coach have to rotate his team as theirs so many games played in such a short space of time. I did like the club teams entering, but off course some sides didn't take it seriously and had to make way for what we see now.
