Did anyone else watch the "Shelter From the Storm" concert on Friday Night (9/9)? Chris Rock began his portion of the program by saying, virtually under his breath yet audibly, "George Bush hates midgets." Was this a: 1) Brilliant satire of Kanye West; 2) Hilariously random moment; 3) Completely inappropriate comment; 4) Clever way to reiterate Kanye's "George Bush doesn't care about black people" statement Please discuss.
It wasn't random. Who suffers most in a flood? Who is first to see the water rising over his little head? A midget.
Most of the comedians that were great in the late 90's have since jumped the shark, and Rock has jumped the most of anyone not named Margaret Cho.
And, according to Bobcat Goldthwait, you could get in to see her any night of the week when she was straight, but, since she turned lesbian, she's selling out concert halls. This was after Bobcat announced that if he'd have been raped by a priest onstage, his career would take off..
That lesbian niche market is huge. How else do you explain the WNBA still having people at their games (besides NBA marketing nepotism)? Ah, Bobcat.
I want proof... I saw a recent picture of Margaret Cho and I doubt there are any women quite that desperate...
How about the people who are riding the subway? I'd think that they are below the midgets, they'd suffer more than the midgets. Unless, of course, it's a really short midget. Or a midget on the subway. President Bush must really hate those.
Chris Rock's last special was horrible, leading me to believe that any humor from him these days is entirely accidental. When people look in the dictionary for a definition of "sell out", his picture is listed twice.
I really liked her earlier stuff, but I could see it very easily not being someone's thing. You had to be able to get the Asian jokes.
You don't like Bobcat? Most people think it's all screams and snorts, but his comedy is actually pretty damn funny.
She pretty much only had one schtick: My Korean relatives are so wacky. Her entire act was pretty much variations on that one theme.
First "Louisiana 1927" is relevant again, now "Short People." Let's hope current events don't get "Political Science" on the playlist. (Chris Rock could study at the feet of Randy Newman when it comes to selling out, by the way, and yes, I DID see "Down to Earth.")
LOL. Reminds me of this Chris Rock quote: "Who's more racist, white people or black people? Black people! Why? Cause we hate black people TOO!". Bring The Pain is my favorite comedy performance of all time, right up there with Delirious and Raw.
