The fault is with the Chilean FA for hiring such an incompetent coach like Borghi, what were they thinking? Good thing the mistake was righted in the nick of time, and what an inspired choice in Sampaoli to replace him.

If Argentina offers the NT position to Sampaoli after the WC, Chile will probably lose him however.

The mistake was when the big clubs in CHile went against Harold Maynichols in the federation, and consequently Bielsa left. When I mean the big clubs, I mean Colo Colo , U de Chile and U Catolica. But, thank God after Chile lost 2-1 to Argentina in October 2012, Borghi was removed. It was a big risk to make a change at that part of the qualifiers, but it worked. Sampaoli has to stay until 2017, in my opinion
But there are electiion in the ANFP in November, I hope the big "teams" don't ******** us up again.

Well, if Sampaoli has to stay until 2017, then he should stay until 2018 for the WC. That's the whole process and the ultimate goal.

    Sampaoli completely outclassed Scolari today.

The next time we meet will be a very good game. Hopefully with everybody fit 100% I was rooting for you to go through and to see you guys in the quarterfinals. But don't worry I believe we can revenge your elimination Friday against Brazil.

The most important thing now is to keep Sampaoli not only until Copa America, but until the end of the next World Cup! He is an amazing coach and the chilean national team needs him!

We all remember how many people said after the resignation of Bielsa, that we have great players and that's the only and most important thing and everything will simply continue with Borghi.. Only 12 months after that, we saw that this is not true.

We had luck with Sampaoli! He made an amazing improvement with this team only in 18 months! Imagine what can he make in 3-4 years! We need him in the next 4-6 years, if we wish to continue the development and not to start all over again.

Oho, Copa America in Chile. Great, that should be win, but Brazil and Argentina will come with the best squads?

We have a great team and proved to be as good or even better than Brazil. This fact goes also to prove how bad was Borghi as a coach. Good ridance. I hold responsible for that fiasco those who appointed him as national coach.

Heartbreaking loss. That shot by Pinilla...

So proud of this team though. The best is yet to come. I think we'll finally win a big tournament with this group and that will be next year in the Copa.

As much as I want Sampa to continue, I see him leaving after Copa America. Imo, he should say so before so we have real time to work. This is a great team but we need a few tweaks to make it historic. Imo if we could get just 1 decent centerback we would be good to go.

ANFP have to make everything possible to keep him after Copa America! It's true, he has not said anything as a long-term sign yesterday, but it was not the moment after such an emotional defeat to take conclusions and to talk about the next WC! Many coaches don't like the work as a national coach, because they miss the rhytmus of the work at a club. But the way Sampaoli is working and preparing his team is a every-day work, so I hope this won't be a problem.

Why do you think he will leave? Maybe Lichnovsky can be the defender we are looking for. Time will show.
