If there's any concern about Basti on turf, maybe you sit him for those matches. That still leaves, in this season, 16 home matches plus maybe another 11-12 non-turf away matches for him to play in. Maybe it's not perfect in the sense of being there for everything, but a lot better than not having him at all.
with the lack of pace on this team, maybe we should sit the whole team for turf matches. Couldn't be worse than that ATL game.
Id be surprised to see him in different role(eg. CM or even AM) other than a Pirlo-esque/Busquet-esque 6 with the other 2 decent dudes you have holding the CM positions. At least as I see it thats the most effective position you could use him
Actually, I was responding to the earlier post that showed a heavier Schweinsteiger, suggesting that he had let himself go prior to the Euros and, presumably, while at United. Don't disagree with your assessment of his upside potential, my later post was taking an unflinching view of the challenges he faces. I love the guy, he's a warrior and a class act as well.
Schweini's Brother Tobi mentioned on Twitter that he's looking forward to watching a Fire match with "the" Sector Latino?!?!?! Has he some sort of relationship Sector L? Fill me in! Good luck #baller in the US!Have fun at @ChicagoFire.Hope, i can visit u soon to watch u and the Sector Latino 😉@MLS @BSchweinsteiger pic.twitter.com/m1KJzCs9zl— Tobi Schweinsteiger (@tobits7) March 21, 2017
So...where is he? Is he being counseled on MLS transitions by Frank Lampard? Did he speak with Drogba (the legend of the black SUV "kidnapping" from ORD grows)? Has he fired his agent? Notice his brother said "soon". August 1 is soon, right?
Update - Basti reportedly training in Mallorca following a 4-hour physical, now awaiting work visa. http://www.espnfc.us/story/3090166/...aining-in-mallorca-ahead-of-chicago-fire-move

Looks like he is on his way to 'murica! Of course, he is not "brown" so there is no problem with his "papers". For those who cannot read the blurb: usconsmunichBastian Schweinsteiger's visa is only one of more than 15,000 non-immigrant visas issued to German citizens from the Visa-Team of the U.S. Consulate Munich in the last 12 months. Apparently 'ois guade' means something like 'all good' in Bavarian dialect. I think. Its not entirely clear from google
