    Battery win 1-0

huge west coast trip for the Battery
7 point out of three matches.

I would have been estactic with 4 points, 7 points is great.

    Way to go charleston!

last regular season match is Rochester, might have implication as to who will get the second place spot and the play off bye. rochester will be playing a match in Rochester the night before so I assume they will fly down to Charleston on the day of the match. Cant help streach out those tired legs.

Charleston got off to a flying start and broke the deadlock in the 4th minute. Jordie Hughes slipped past his defender on the right side of the box and burst to the goal-line. He fired a deep cross to Armstrong who stroked the ball home with his left foot.

In the 15th minute the Timbers came close after midfielder Ronnie Silva swept the ball in from the right flank. Forward Byron Alvarez swung at the ball but his shot flew high over the goal.

The Battery settled down and defended with numbers making it hard for the Portland Timers to create chances. Silva banged a long-range shot over the bar in the 27th minute and then late in the half midfielder Luke Kraemelmeyer lifted a free-kick high of the goal.

Charleston continued to defend after the break and Wiggans was only forced into action on one occasion tipping a shot from Kraemelmeyer around the post for a corner.

The Battery had two chances to lengthen its lead; in the 79th minute defender Tim Karalexis surged forward from the half-way line. He carried the ball to the edge of the box but his right footed shot missed high and right.

The final attempt came in the 90th minute as Luke Vercollone broke the off-side trap on the right side. He headed in on goal but his blast from distance dipped over the cross-bar.

7 points on that road trip is amazing. We seem to be peaking at the right time. Now if Puerto Rico could just be eliminated, my week would be complete.
