OK, thanks. That is what I needed to know.

"Yo si le voy, le voy al Aztexs!"

    That translates ruffly into:

"Yes I go, I go with the Aztexs!"

Oh how I whanna be in that number
Oh when the reds go marching in.

    Oh when the reds
    Go marching in
Oh when the reds go marching in
We will all sing in one chorus
And cheer them on to victory!!!

What's wrong with the way we've been singing it?

Alejo, we don't need modification for the chant.

You'll find a difference in reception if you use, "Hey, what do you guys think about..." versus "Here's a modification...". One is asking for input on an idea, the other states that the decision has already been made.

I like the chant that Ajejo taught us last match:
"Yo si le voy, le voy al Aztecas!"
    Thanks!

That only brings our chant total to 2 along with "the Reds go marching in".
And, we have issues with coordinating the latter due to the amount of percussion.

How about something like Dave Cevese for a third chant? Simple. Not even any real words to it. And, it seems to work well WITH percussion.

    Sounders version
    [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ix0QWKhGPjw"]YouTube - ECS - Dale (Cevese) Sounders!![/ame]
S.S. Cavese (pretty low level team, 12k capacity stadium) nice and loud
    [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S7Inv49Ghr8"]YouTube - DALE CAVESE .....[/ame]

    Whoooooa oooooooohhh
    Whoooooa oooooooohhhhhhh
    Whoooooa oooooooohhh
    Whoooooa oooooooohhh

La la la la la la la la
La la la la la la la la
La la la la la la la la
La la la la la la la la

If we can get more coordination, we can do some real chants.
But, we're gonna have to sit closer together and actually do it.
If it's more then 3 lines to memorize, it's gonna be hard to get people to join in.

    "We've Got Cesc Fabregas"
    could become
"We've Got Noel-Williams" (sorry for you Gunner haters)
It works for other players with the right number of syllables.
We've Got Gall--ardo, etc and so on..
    http://www.fanchants.com/football-songs/arsenal-chants/weve-got-cesc-fabregas/

For this one, there are 2 words to memorize here: "Der" and Aztex. I think we could manage that no? It's the rhythm we want.
    http://www.fanchants.com/football-songs/hull_city-chants/der-der-hull-city/

Not to offend our multi-lingual guys, but I would love to yell this the next time we host Montreal ;-)

    Thoughts?

Had another thought before retiring for the night.

This chant is pretty popular for Nat' supporter's at Nevada Smith's in NYC.
I liked it (my favorite). Easy to remember. Very loud.

3 words. Easy. Sing it right before kickoff or maybe right after scoring a goal?

Nice work Mr. J. I think these all could work at the next game. I hope to see you out there. At some point, if we want to do any chanting of our own (in english), then we are just going to have to start chanting over LGI. We can't let them have all the fun!

    I'm a SOOOOOLdier Warrior

    I am a FIGHTER
    I'm a SOOOOOOLdier Warrior

    We will be loyal
    TO THE VERY END

And you may ask what the hell this has ta do with football, Austin, Aztex, Texas etc.

Well I could ask the same thing of the following three songs and what they have to do with football, Liverpool, Stoke ,West Ham, etc.

    [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fBiSd9R9YUA&feature=related&pos=0"]YouTube - Merry Macs "I'm Forever Blowing Bubbles"[/ame]

    [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sI5LWwC-cE8"]YouTube - TOM JONES - DELILAH[/ame]

    [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2zy3CeI0FCY"]YouTube - Gerry The Pacemakers - You'll Never Walk Alone[/ame]

Two are from old musicals, and one is about a guy killing his cheating wife/girlfriend, but somehow, somewhere, it worked for the supporters of and ATN works for me. :)

    true true .

    Allow me to illucidate then.

ATN is just as catchy a tune as YNWA, Bubbles, and Delilah, and like all three of them it has no clear cut connections to football. But it works, + in the case of ATN there is plenty of room for improvised lyrics.

    For instance.

    1.2.3.4
Can I drink a little more
    5.6.7 8 9 10
    It's match day
    A.B.C.D
    Can I drink till I can't see
    E.F. G H I J
    It's match day

Bum bum ba bum ba bum
    Drink yer beer
    Bum ba bum
    Cheer the team
    Bum ba bum
    Keep a beat
    Bum ba bum
    SING WITH ME!!!!!

    All togethor NOW!!!!!!! :D;)

Just the Chorus could be learned for an awesome ballad.

    Sing with me
    Sing for the year
    Sing for the laughter
    Sing for the tear
Sing with me, If it's just for today
Maybe tommorow the good lord will take you away

    Dream on, Dream on
Dream on, dream it till your dream comes true

I dug up this thread to showcase this little blurb from "Tynan Diaz's england tour report", courtesy of the team site.

It was initiation time for the new boys so it was decided that each new player to the team had to sing a song on the bus in front of everyone.

While I never get nervous before football games, I was sure feeling the pressure on this one and I had a solid performance to follow as Nick Patterson set a high standard on the first song which everyone ended up joining in except me. I was sweating bullets because I knew I was next.

I got up and started singing "I'm a Believer." Thank God it was a crowd favorite and the boys joined in which helped the cause. Shortly after, it was announced that it was not over and the new boys needed to come up with a group performance. While it was a lot easier having other guys singing with me, we sure made the Backstreet Boys look good.

What you lot think? Is it a worthy tune to be picked up for next season? And heres the offending song in question, for those unwashed few amongst us who don't know it. ;)

I think that I'm a believer would be a good song before a game.

I also like the drumline in "The Yellow Rose of Texas." Boy, I wish I could play drums like that! It should put a real sense of duty in our players on the soccer field before a game.

And hey how about these for a slightly varied, and AAFC specific, version of "the Reds Go Marching" and "Glory Glory ".

    Oh When the RAW
    Goes Marching on
    To victory
    Oh when the RAW
    Goes
    Marching on
    I whanna be
    In that number
    Oh when the RAW
    Goes
    Marching on.

    Glory, Glory

    Glory Glory
    Austin Aztex
    Glory Glory

Oh I love those videos!!! Reds go marching in is good....but damn I love "there was 1 german bomber in the air" That would really screw with the Portland players! Especially the refrain when we bring up the RAF!! Hahahha!!! Great videos, thank you Cheese and Oatcakes! Soon, we will put together bars scenes like those!!
