I am in a thread-starting mood. This thread is to discuss all things Champions League. The draw is on the 28th! Also: Zenit St Petersburg's qualification to the #ChampionsLeague Group Stage means that #ASRoma will definitely be in pot 4 for Thursday's draw.— Lee Roberts (@Lee_R1989) August 26, 2014 So we will almost certainly be in a group of death - but it should produce some juicy matchups.
Best case. I would love to see Benatia back in Rome for the first CL game of the year. The whistling would be mindblowing.
It doesn't really turn out well for us when traitors come back to visit for the first time in the Olimpico. Capello, Emerson and Zebina spanked us 0-4, Chivu's inter beat us 1-4 as well. ..but regardless I won't mind Bayern or a group of a death. The more big boys we play this year the better prepared we are for them next year when CL matters. This year should be about gaining experience and improving coefficient.
but that would also mean we would play Bayern... and as much as i would love to whistle at Mehdi - i want points more so hopefully, NO Bayern
Teams will fear us in pot 4!! Celtic were knocked out of the CL tonight but the silver lining is that there will definitely not be any clashes with Roma matches being on at the same time as Celtic's.
I think Roma's style would match up well against Bayern. I always thought we looked at our best when the other team presses and allows our players to mainly play on the counter. He hates Juventus and Napoli. He's practically one of us
It'll be rough, but if we can pull a 3rd place finish and progress in the Europa league I'd be satisfied. The most important thing to do here is improve the coefficient.
The Nightmre: Real Madrid - PSG - Liverpool - Roma The Dream: Benfica - Basel - CSKA - Roma The "i'm gonna enjoy ripping you apart group": Bayern - Shaktar - Liverpool - Roma
Would it even be possible to have Roma, Real, Liverpool, PSG in a group? I have never seen a group like that in my years of following this sport. I doubt that happens
Yes , yes it could be possible. Napoli's last year group came very close with Dortmund / Arsenal / Marseille / Napoli , or the one before with City/Bayern/Napoli/Villareal.
So Roma could have themselves a very nice pay day if they get out of their group. Juve made something ridiculous like 75 million a couple years ago when they made it to the quarter-finals and Udinese lost in the qualifiers.
