Five teams head to Jamaica for Caribbean Football Union Club Championships Sunday | November 26, 2006 FIVE TEAMS from three countries will be spending time in Jamaica over the next few weeks for the Caribbean Football Union Club Championships set to begin on December 1. Coming to the island on Thursday will be Haiti's Aigle Noir, Curaçao's SV Centro Social Deportivo Barber and the United States Virgin Islands' Positive Vibes. On December 7, Haiti's Baltimore SC will arrive, while Deportiva Banda Abou get here on the 9th. Not much is known about the visitors' pedigree, however, clubs like Centro Barber have recently been performing well at the top of their leagues while not showing much before. Barber have won the Netherlands Antilles Championships four times in a row and added the Curaçao League to that list four times over the same period. They also played against Portmore United in 2005 but lost the two-leg semi-final 4-2 on aggregate. Positive Vibes were in the tournament last year as well and return this year as the St. Thomas League regular season champions. Last year they were beaten 5-3 on aggregate in the first round by Northern United, who eventually made it to the semi-finals. Aigle Noir come to the competition with a little more history after winning their local league for the first time in 1953 before doubling their tally in 1955. Having been off the radar for a long time, they have much to prove but Haitian clubs usually have quality. The three teams arriving on Thursday will be hosted by the Harbour View Football Club in Group A of the CFU Club Championships first round.
Aigle Noir wins Digicel Cloture 2006 Brunel Fucien shot a superb freekick in extra time against Cavaly to help Aigle Noir of Bel Air win back to back Championships. THANKS TO DIGICEL, and the work of the Fédération Haïtienne de Football, Haiti's Champion's are assured participation in the CONCACAF Caribbean Qualifiers. Intru, Yuri is Puerto Rican, San Juanero. I know that he play for USA in the beach soccer, but still boricua. When we have our trabuco running, none of them will play ever for USA, and that is what we really need to bring Magaht as coach.

Yes once again a Haitian team bows to a Jamaican side. Harbourview won the CFU club tournament in 2004 and then Portmore United won in 2005. The question is do you think Aigle Noir will come back to win. I mean Bana and your country was quick to say they would win in Jamaica comfortably but that isn't the case is it?
Theres reports coming from Puerto Rico that Fruta COnquistadores are a no show up until today, they have until one hour before the game tomorrow to show or they are out all other teams in the group have arribe on the island.
Well, Fruta Conquerors is gone with the wind. They have economical problems and decide to quit. As Islanders fan I will say, next!
group B score: Baltimore SC(HAI) wins 2-0 against Waterhouse(JAM) Goals scored by Pierre Roland St Jean and Decius Dumesle
So, what the hell was wrong with Aigle Noir? I hope they learn from their pitiful performances in Jamaica. Congrats to the ST-Marcois. Vive le football Haitien!
Quote on Jamaica Forum from 80Ball ...................."Weird. I still can't believe what happened to Aigle Noir. I do know the club comes from Bel Air, a volatile slum of Port-au-Prince; thus, they might have had money problems in Jamaica. But, for them to lose three matches in a row against cfu clubs is quite hard to believe."
Today's Group C matchup: W Connection FC (TRI) vs. Hoppers FC (ATG) W-Connection made to toil on arrival in Puerto Rico By Joel Villafana (ttproleague.com) TT Pro League giants Vibe CT 105 W Connection were made to toil on their arrival in San Juan, Puerto Rico on Thursday for the start of the Caribbean Club Championships. The W Connection team spent the entire day on Thursday at National training facility which was located almost two hours from the airport. The teams’ management refused to check into the facility because of poor conditions. The 2006 Pro League runners up and two time Caribbean Club Champions left the Piarco International Airport for San Juan Peurto Rico at 6.35 a.m on Thursday and after arriving at just after 9 a.m the Savonetta Boys traveled for over an hour by bus to arrive at what was a Government-run training facility with less than acceptable accommodation. Coach Stuart Charles Fevrier, Manager Raymond Mc lean and Captain Earl Jean all agreed they were not accepting these conditions and demanded answers as they were promised a five star hotel facility. The technical staff and 25 players were made to remain outside the facility which contained rooms that were designed to accommodate a concentration camp, rather than a professional football team with cramped rooms containing six double decked beds. The W Connection players were forced to lay outside the facility which, lies some 30 miles from the main city of San Juan and spent no less than 6 hours marooned. The team was unable to conduct a scheduled training session on that afternoon and Coach Stuart Charles Fevrier was an extremely disappointed man. “This is not what we planned, we are extremely disappointed in what has transpired here, I cannot allow my team to stay here for over a week in these conditions, we are professionals and this was not arrangement put in place.” However, the St. Lucian born coach is looking ahead positively to the rest of the trip. He told ttproleague.com despite the mishap, he is confident his players will remain focused on the job at hand. “Fortunately for us we don’t play until Saturday afternoon, so it gives us a day to gather ourselves get back onto the training pitch and get ready for our first game, ny players are professionals and have remained focused and I know they are hungry to do well in this tournament.” Eventually officials organized for the team to be placed at the El Portel Hotel in Bayamon, which was accepted by the teams’ management. The team had to travel another hour to get to the new facility and arrived just after 8 p.m. The players quickly retired to bed to get some well deserved rest. The First Citizens Cup Champions will be eager to get out on the training pitch on Friday before going into competitive action on Saturday. W Connection are grouped with host team Puerto Rico Islanders, Fruta Conquers out of Guyana and Hoppers FC from Antigua. Connection will first take on the Antiguan Champions Hoppers FC on Saturday at National stadium in Bayamon. The local club giants will then meet Fruta Conquers out of Guyana on Tuesday, before wrapping up this phase of the competition against Puerto Rico Islanders on Thursday. The top team in this group will move on to the final round to determine the Caribbean Club Champions.
Actually because of Fruta Conquerors Forfit the schedual has been change to Saturday 9th Islanders (PUR) vs. Hoppers (ANT) 8:00 pm Monday 11th Hoppers (ANT) vs. W. Connection (TRI) 8:00 pm Wenesday 13th W. Connection (TRI) vs. Islanders (PUR) 8:00 pm
And that two hour trip from the airport to the Government run facility is bull it takes 30 min to get there from my house and im farther away than the airport, it could take 45min to an hour tops not two hours. But i will agree that its in pretty crappy conditions. Yes and the stadium name is not National stadium its Juan Ramon Loubriel Stadium.
