Re: Florida Superthread [Part 2] yeah im 17 so i dont think i can do much but recruit people from my school
Re: Florida Superthread [Part 2] only 14 here, know lots of kids who would like a team too, but the problem seems to be that other kids hate mls because it isnt as good as the epl, so they dont think its cool, a big reason it isnt as good yet is because people dont support it as much. get everyone chanting and singing, and it would be great fun
Re: Florida Superthread [Part 2] the kids at my school are probably on the verge of liking MLS if we had a team, they would def. support them
Re: Florida Superthread [Part 2] I think a good place to start would be the USF/UT game on Aug. 18th at USF as they compete for the Rowdies Cup. Bring a nice big banner that says "BRING BACK THE MUTINY" and toss it over a railing or start a petition there or hand out some little flyer's about starting a group. Advertise to your audience.
Re: Florida Superthread [Part 2] to be honest i dont think they should call it the mutiny. it might send out a message, like "we are just as bad as when we left you". i say have a fresh start and just call it tampa bay fc or something like that.
Re: Florida Superthread [Part 2] Tampa FC would be fine and all... but I would think continuing the Mutiny name has more to do with continuity and a built in fan base.
Re: Florida Superthread [Part 2] i know someone that played for the rowdies, ill try to talkto him, but i'll be out of the country for a week.
Re: Florida Superthread [Part 2] tampa fc would be fine, but if it was in st pete, it would probably have to be tampa bay
Re: Florida Superthread [Part 2] I would definately do what I can in supporting a team for Tampa/St Pete or Orlando... As far as team name that probably is too early to worry about, I say a website or banner in games with a general "Bring back MLS Soccer to the Tampa Bay" would suffice.
Re: Florida Superthread [Part 2] It would be great to have a team in St.Pete as well as in Tampa in the future...The rivalry would be great for the game
Re: Florida Superthread [Part 2] For those in the Tampa/St. Pete area... anyone up for meeting up at MacDinton's Irish Pub on Howard street to watch next week's Thursday night game (or some future match... Becks first game perhas)? I don't believe you need to be 18 or 21 to get in... It's also a restaurant. If we had a nice group of 15-20 people it would be great. Just putting that out there.
Re: Florida Superthread [Part 2] im out of the country for that game, but maybe the next one im 17, so see if i would be able to get in for the next weeks game
Re: Florida Superthread [Part 2] would be awesome, i wouldnt know who to choose, depends on where the stadiums where
Re: Florida Superthread [Part 2] With Disney recently signing a deal with Chelsea I could see MLS asking Disney and Chelsea if they want to own a team in Orlando. Florida already had two teams and both of them folded. I think right now that one team in the middle of the state would do better. you can get people from both coasts to come out to Orlando. You have both I-4 and the Turnpike coming through the area. Disney could offer ticket packages with their annual passes. They also have the room to build a good soccer stadium
Re: Florida Superthread [Part 2] and disney has a little bit of money from what i've heard, so a nice SSS could come out of that
Miami MLS franchise It's time that MLS comes back to Miami. Palermo, who returned to Boca Juniors in 2004 and recently signed a contract extension for an additional season, remains intrigued about playing outside of Argentina. He would even consider South Florida if it were to regain a MLS franchise.
Re: Florida Superthread [Part 2] Having lived in both Tampa and Orlando, I think Tampa wins out. Although, if there are going to put a team in Orlando, I won't complain. Also, I believe Orlando just passed a bill/law/whatever to build a new arena, arts center, etc. Anyone living in Orlando know about this?
Re: Miami MLS franchise The Miami Fusion FC and the Tampa Bay Mutiny absolutely should return as MLS expansion teams sooner rather than later. -G
