Does any one have a picture of the stadium where Halifax will play? York 9 should not be scared of TFC, they are going for entirely different audience and I doubt the price will be nearly the level of TFC tickets.
Hamilton Forge owner, Bob Young also owner of the CFL Tiger-Cats might have became the richest CPL owner or close to Calgary group. A company that was co-founded by a graduate of Trinity College School @TCSBears in Port Hope, Bob Young, has been sold to IBM for $34 billion. https://t.co/eDPMjVJPqV— PeterboroughExaminer (@PtboExaminer) October 29, 2018
The initial plan was a modular permanent stadium. However, there was some push back from locals. The compromise was to have a temporary structure for 3 years and then the city would be open to something more permanent like a proper modular stadium. A good view of the Wanderers Grounds from this weekend's rugby match. Note that because the stadium will be removed during the off-season, the actual layout and configuration may change for 2019. #CanPL #HFXWanderersFC pic.twitter.com/a4ZGfbWFTb— Bespoke FC (@Bespoke_FC) June 26, 2018 It's a bit more pricey than I anticipated but as you pointed out, they are going after a different audience than TFC that are mainly in the downtown core.
But then what about the other proposed stadium plan for Halifax, one at Shannon Park that is supposed to be built for the Atlantic CFL team. https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/nova-scotia/cfl-football-shannon-park-stadium-1.4880216 Is it really economically viable to have 2 separate stadiums???? Or maybe have a shared stadium as they do in Atlanta and Seattle. Even for the CPL will it even be viable to have other pro soccer teams (Moncton and St-John's are often mentioned) in Atlantic Canada outside of Halifax??? (ie will there be enough talent for 2 or even 3 Atlantic teams)
I think both can work. The CPL and CFL serves 2 very different demographic. CFL will have a stadium in Dartmouth, outside of Halifax across the bridge. They usually attract an older audience. This team is designed to attract all of Atlantic Canada CPL will be Downtown Halifax and serves a younger audience, near the University, near the waterfront, touristic area and the port where cruise ships brings tourists. If CPL and CFL are a day apart, the CFL fans who travelled for the game might want to see CPL while in the city and vice versa. I think this is a case where both complement each other and could have a mutual beneficial relationship. Halifax is the financial centre of Atlantic Canada. It's a huge myth that there's no money there. Quite the contrary which mean enough disposable income to enjoy sport as they do in the winter with hockey and basketball. Also, Atlantic Canada are closer to their European roots as well. Soccer has a huge following there. They actually have a strong soccer Usports program. Cap Breton are the reigning Usports champions and are still dominant this year. Let's not forget that HFX Wanderers scouted Atlantic Canada for the best projects, put them together in a team and those kids defeated Fortuna Dusseldorf youth team. There's enough talent and number for 3 CPL teams. The 3 MLS clubs never looked in Atlantic Canada, doesn't mean that talent was never there to begin with.
HFX Wanderers Stadium rendering for CPL Is there anything better than a good stadium rendering? #HFXWanderersFC #CanPL pic.twitter.com/zei02rEkYi— Bespoke FC (@Bespoke_FC) October 30, 2018
The good news is that the mayor loves the team and the league but had to deal with nimbys. I think he gives the club 3 years to win over the downtown residents and than will give his ok for a full modular stadium on the site.

A fellow Voyageur who got off the phone with a York 9 FC representative. I just got off the phone with Ben - about a half-hour call about stuff. In short: - Part of the higher cost is due to $1m in infrastructure upgrades at York. - Looking at multiple sites for the eventual permanent stadium. Markham and Richmond Hill were also mentioned. The Greenpark guy is dumping a bunch of personal money into it. - 3pm was mentioned as a game time, though I don't know if that's concrete. - There is a half-season pack; 8 tickets in club seats for $299 or in the grandstand for $224. Mix and match however you want (8 tickets at one, 1 ticket at eight, etc). - Parking is TBD with York U but likely $10. VIP season parking (about 100 spots) for ~$20/game. - $50 from family grandstand sales will be redirected back towards your pick of youth clubs (ie. $349 for York 9 and $50 for the local club). The $50 discount before Aug 31 took this $50 donation and removed it from your ticket price instead. He seemed open to honouring that discount for people who signed up at launch before it was announced. - They should start calling for season ticket orders thisafternoon.

Well, I'm sorry this will be done privately. I enjoy watching MLS's college draft every year. Also, if one team uses a time-out, the next team in line (including, potentially, themselves) cannot use theirs? That sounds...interesting.

If Atlantic Schooners becomes reality for CFL, what are the odds HFX Wanderers just use that stadium?
Slim to none unless they make it far in the Champions League. HFX Wanderers are better located in downtown Halifax than the CFL team in Dartmouth
