    Wiki on Saputo:
Saputo Stadium (French: Stade Saputo) is a soccer-specific stadium in Montreal, Quebec, Canada which opened on May 21, 2008, and is the current home of Montreal Impact. The stadium is built on the former practice track and field site on the grounds of the 1976 Summer Olympics, while the stadium's west side has a view of Olympic Stadium's incline tower (thus having a three-stand configuration, like Oxford United F.C.'s Kassam Stadium in England). Saputo Stadium holds 13,034 people and can be expand to 20,000 in the future for possible Major League Soccer expansion plans. Its main tenant is the Impact, partially owned by the Quebec company Saputo. The stadium is named after the Saputo family, not the company, and is the second largest soccer specific stadium in Canada after BMO Field in Toronto, Ontario.
Built by Broccolini Construction Inc., the Impact played their first home game at their new home on May 19, 2008, a scoreless draw against the Vancouver Whitecaps.
The Canadian Soccer Association initially announced that the first international at Saputo Stadium will be the second leg of Canada's second stage CONCACAF World Cup Qualifying match on June 20, 2008. [2] .
The stadium cost $14.1 million CAD to build, with one-half of the cost paid by the Saputo family, and the rest coming from other private sector contributions. Saputo Stadium is now the The Impact's administrative headquarters and also includes a training field, 20 corporate boxes and full player welfare areas. The complex covers approximately 1.6 million square feet. While it currently used a majority of the time by The Impact, other local teams will also be allowed to play there.

There u have it, should be fun.

So much for a birthday surprise from the CSA...

...they must have found out I was Irish.

    Ugggggggggggh.

(And funnily enough, I hadn't felt as bad about going to watch TFC lose at BMO Field - I guess in that case, I expected litle from the depleted team, and was taking in the fine views of Toronto from the West Stand, and stuff, since it was my first time visiting the stadium.)

********!!!!! We got beat by the Ringling Bros! A guy that couldn't even cut in MLS just beat us.

Disappointing result. Mitchell is a crappy coach.

Also, what's with all the Hondurans treating Canada like a hotel? The Canandian government should take all their rights away and/or deport them for not caring about the country that feeds them.

Horrible. Also, when Honduras score the second goal, some Honduras drunk threw his beer at some Canadian fans. Good thing that police took that bastard away. Is is that hard to get an education over there in Honduras?

I'm a dissapoitied person right now.

Anyways. Those Honduran guys I described are supposed to be "Canadians". Last time I checked, Montreal is located in Canada. At least take their voting rights away since they obviously don't give a damn about Canada. I really don't want any of those people choosing our Prime Minister next month.

Also, Montreal is a joke. Only 20% of the people in that stadium spoke English or French. Crap like that wouldn't have happened in Toronto. Why was Canada playing in their away kits? Seriously, I hope the CSA is happy. They basically gave Honduras an extra home game (or maybe the people thought Canada was playing in blue since they were in Quebec).

It's a cultural thing. The Honduran immigrants still relate to the team.
I don't see anything wrong with that.
Give them time. After a while, they will also support the Canadian team (when playing a team other than Honduras).

    Uncalled for.

Yes maybe 50 % of the stadium was rooting for Honduras, but what do you want. Canada, and especially Montreal is built practically entirely on immigration, and Montreal has a rather large Honduran population. Its true Honduras played in favorable conditions, but it was a great atmosphere. Hell, I was sitting right in the middle of about 250 Hondurans. And us Canadians did not do anything to help the situations. The Hondurans were dancing, shouting, screaming, singing..while the Canadians were being, well, Canadian...quiet, shy, and calm. I tried to get a "Canada" shit going, but the Hondurans would just drown us out every time.

    Besides, Suazo was unstoppable.

Exactly, I saw many people there who were holding 2 flags as well. But when Honduras scored of course they are going to cheer as well. You can't help it, they also feel a connection.

It was sad Canada lost, but personally, I think it was a wonderful experience, and in my mind, once again proves why there is nothing on this earth similar to International Soccer competitions.

    Once again, congratulations to Honduras.

P.S: I saw some rediculous women at this game...wow...:D

I think for u canadians, the game would have been better if the unfortunate radzinski injury wouldnt have happened.
REgarding the Azuran's ignorant comments, I root for Honduras and i am an American citizen, when they play i root for both, i cheer for both teams scoring, and well i was born in honduras and i cant help feeling an edge for them, u cant pick who u love. THe difference is though is if i insult the US team and and go all anti-american, now that is wrong. IDK but were there Hondurans who are Canadian citizens insulting Canada? Or were they just rooting for Honduras with out insulting canadians.
