I'm very interested to see how the "curtain" in The Benz affects the acoustics and if it is hefty enough to keep the crowd noise more intimate, shall we say. I'd love for the club to have it open to the full stadium for, say, prior to the first match and then close it as we got close to kick-off, just to get an impression of its impact. If, like Eales has suggested, we get season ticket sales to that 40K mark or beyond ( I believe Seattle's is 43K ), then I think your floor of 30K/match would be fairly safe. I'll tell you though. If we could get 40K-45K in Bobby Dodd every match, I'd love it there. I'm letting my emotions get the best of me here but, I'd take that place every match. Just friggin' awesome. Still geeking out over Sunday night.
The "curtains" at MBS won't really affect acoustics. The trick will be how the ceiling shape and all the exposed heavy framework impacts the reverb. If you noticed Sunday night Bobby Dodd has an issue with the echo effect between the east stands and the rest of the stadium, which impacted the timing for the group chants. (One side would start "A-T-L!" and the other would come in a half-second off.) Hopefully MBS will present something more uniform in the sound department, and I know they've said they went through extensive modeling to test the sound impacts of the design.
I don't know about all that. We need to win and get 3 points this weekend. I think we'll beat Little U. Winning games is the most important thing. Just win baby!
Tru Dat. However, folks need things to discuss. Getting 3 points generally has a thread all to itself, even multiple threads each week on some boards. The breadth and character of ATL support is a fine topic of discussion....obviously impacted by those three points generally on offer each week but by many other factors also.
I don't know the exact number but, yes, the max capacity will be reduced. My recollection is that the top half of the supporters end will be closed for renovations.
People like a winner - and ATL is hot after last night. Six goals flatters us, but I think people are right to expect attacking flair from us. That being said, time to sort out that defense. There was a period of about fifteen minutes in the end of the first half when we looked awful. A better team than the Loons will punish that sort of scrambling.
Have a distinct feeling we are going to be a real rollercoaster ride for some time. More savvy, better organized teams won't be so easily dispatched. And, Tata's commitment to pushing outside backs so high will cost us from time to time.
I agree with this. We will attack and score goals and be scored upon. I don't think we'll win many cagey 1-0 results. It will be Full Steam Ahead for sure.
Sounds like we're on the right track... Darren Eales said #ATLUTD is on Adidas daily to produce gear. After the Chicago Cubs, @ATLUTD was the most popular pro sports kit in America— 92.9 The Game (@929TheGame) March 15, 2017
I think I saw him in the box with the owner of Minnesota at the game, holding him and patting his back, probably saying, "There, there."
I don't think it can be overstated how much the extra time to prepare has helped Atlanta. Atlanta had 2 1/2 years, Minnesota had half a year, and it shows. Minnesota might have been better off waiting another year before starting play (I know MLS wanted to keep an even league, but with Miami being Miami, they're gonna have an odd number next year anyway).
True - they were screwed by the league's love affair with Beckham. That being said, they did not draft well; they seemed to believe keeping an essentially NASL squad would be good enough; and, for some damned reason, they felt that looking to Scandinavia was a clever idea for building a roster - instead of South America. I mean, Scandinavia?
