Having not seen the full match, and wanting to go check it out in the WatchESPN archive, are there specific minutes within the match that I would likely be able to find Beckerman's "extremely vulnerable" moments and his "outplayed and out positioned" occasions?
It was only a 30-minute sub appearance for EJ, and maybe JK wanted to get a look at the specific players under those (limited health or recovering) conditions. And/or some other guy got food poisoning. "Healthy" on the roster could be a relative term.
Nevermind. This entire conversation has gone completely off the rails. Long story short: Players don't eat the same things.
About how I saw it. Amazing how watching live clears the mind. Poor EJ, he wanted to show he really could play wide and only managed to confirm what we already know - he can't
Guy spends a week in Brazil worrying about food poisoning messing up his big chance and gets food poisoning in Los Angeles instead.
On the MLS podcast, they were joking about Wondo choosing to eat Italian food and Magee picking Seafood. Not sure if that's what really happened though.
Bad seafood is the worst. Can turn your stomach inside out. I wonder if Magee gets a make up call to Ukraine.
Same podcast Wondo mentioned that Magee was looking very good in practice. Wondo said he had "good chemistry" with Mike, so it makes me wonder where JK was playing Magee (we know where he was playing Wondo).
http://www.mlssoccer.com/worldcup/2...plimentary-youngsters-luis-gil-deandre-yedlin doesnt look like its meant to be this cycle.......not one for bringing youngsters along it seems
Maybe he had one of those bacon wrapped hot dogs on his way into the stadium. (There was a vendor right near the entrance where I came in.)
Landon was not just a "youngster". He was a FIFA youth WC Gold ball winner. Got any other of those laying around?
Yedlin is arguably the closest we've had since that era, with exception of Jozy. If there was a spot for a #2 right back, that was it. Unless we are hoping bygones are bygones with Chandler and hes brought in in Ukraine, we gotta go with Evans or Parkhurst. Thats not a good day for anyone.
I think the closest we have had since Landon is one year too young for the 2014 WC. If the World Cup was in 2015, I think it would be very likely that Junior Flores would be on the team.
I took it the other way: Klinsmann is a big fan of both of these guys (hence them receiving caps). He also has the knowledge, though, that even at the national level there are additional tiers / competitiveness. Providing Yedlin and Gil clear instructions for how to act with their club team shows he's invested in their success. The full quote from USSoccer.com is probably better (bold is mine): Basically, this is a public way of saying, "I'm watching - go kick some ass".
