Thread title change @bungadiri @Friedel'sAccent ? Caleb was on the bench in Gil Vicente's opener, a 2-0 win over Academica. http://www.lpfp.pt/liga_zon_sagres/pages/jogo.aspx?epoca=20132014&jornada=1&jogo=8110
Caleb got a game in the League Cup against Moreirense. Gil Vicente won 4-3. Caleb also played in the away game at Moreirense in the same Cup, which was a 0-0 draw (and shutout). The 4-3 aggregate win means Gil Vicente moves on to the 3rd round.
Shortly after I made the last post here on Nov9, Caleb started in goal against 3rd division side Cova da Piedade in the 4th round of the other cup, the Portugal Cup. He got another shutout, but the game ended 0-0 and went to penalties. Appaently, Caleb had a great game in that he saved 2 PKs during the shootout as Gil Vucente won 4-3 and advanced to the 1/8 finals. They drew Benfica in the next round. According to the club writeup, "No momento de todas as decisões, Caleb agigantou-se" (At the moment of decisions, Caleb made himself gigantic?). The headline for the match writeup is "Caleb pôs fim a tanta piedade" which Google translates as "Caleb put an end to so much piety." http://www.gilvicentefc.pt/noticia.php?id=560&n=Caleb-pos-fim-a-tanta-piedade
Patterson-Sewell was in goal yesterday as Gil Vicente was eliminated from the Portuguese Cup away to Benfica 5-0.
Although Gil Vicente are knocked out of the Portuguese Cup, they are still alive in the League Cup. The 3rd round of the League Cup consists of round-robin matches, and Gil Vicente is in a group with Benfica, Leixoes, and Nacional. On Jan 8, they drew Leixoes 0-0 at home with Caleb going the full 90. On Jan 15, they drew Nacional 2-2 away, with Caleb also going the full 90. On Jan 25th, they will face Benfica. Unfortunately, Benfica has already qualified for the next round, and Gil Vicente is out, so this will be Caleb's last cup game this year. I think he is unlikely to get any league time, barring an injury to the starter.
For some reason Facchini started the game in goal for Gil Vicente, but they lost 1-0 to Benfica anyway.
Caleb is back as the backup keeper as Gil Vicente lost 1-2 at home to Vitoria Guimaraes. http://www.espnfc.com/gamecast/statistics/id/402041/statistics.html
Caleb has been on the bench for all (don't quote me on that) league games this season so far, backing up Adriano Facchini, but he has gotten some time in the Cup(s). In the League Cup, he played in a 1-1 home draw against Atletico on October 29 (Gil Vicente had a 2-0 away lead from the 1st leg): http://www.ligaportugal.pt/oou/jogo/20142015/3/7/5 He also played in the 3 group stage games: 2-1 loss at Covilha: http://www.ligaportugal.pt/oou/jogo/20142015/3/8/4 3-0 loss at Estoril: http://www.ligaportugal.pt/oou/jogo/20142015/3/9/4 0-1 loss to Maritimo: http://www.ligaportugal.pt/oou/jogo/20142015/3/10/4 Gil Vicente are out of the League Cup now. In the Portugal Cup, Gil Vicente made it to the quarterfinals but Caleb didn't play in any of the games.
I was trying to find an update on Patterson-Sewell's whereabouts because I think he's out of contract. I couldn't find any news, but he was featured in a Portuguese language article entitled "2015: the year of the lumbersexual". Caleb is in elite company.
NEWS | @RayoOKC brings in veteran Caleb Patterson-Sewell between the posts for the club's inaugural season. pic.twitter.com/Tci2qO1P55— NASL (@naslofficial) January 26, 2016
Tell you what.......Rayo OKC has assembled quite a roster on paper. It helps to have that Rayo Vallecano money.
What Rayo Vallecano money? They're a relatively small club with a stadium that's falling apart and a fanbase that's upset that what money they do have is being used on a club in OKC. Some rayistas even bought shirts from the OKC Energy and took pictures wearing them as protest. The owner also expects them to be self sufficient, so the OKC team is going to have to stand on it's own.
He's moved to Farense in Portugal. http://www.zerozero.pt/jogador.php?id=64977 http://www.transfermarkt.com/caleb-patterson-sewell/profil/spieler/73427
They appear to be in the 3rd division in Portugal. He's got 2 shutouts in 4 league games, and one 1 in the Cup.
Farense now in first place in their group in Portuguese third division. Caleb with 11 starts so far this season. http://us.soccerway.com/players/caleb-patterson-sewell/28138/
And back to the USA: .@JaxArmadaFC and goalkeeper Caleb Patterson-Sewell have kept a pair of clean sheets to start the season. pic.twitter.com/J1PCysQFPv— NASL (@naslofficial) April 10, 2017
