Okay, so looks like I can pick up 97.1 the fan on the TuneIn Radio app on my phone, which means I can run it through the car speakers via Bluetooth. Awesome!
I know these deals are not easy to get done but my god precourt probably didn’t even know the office phone line he was so uninvolved. With that said I’d like to add something about the new FO in particular the Haslams. People can make fun of the browns performance over the years on the field but their business acumen is exceptional and more so the people working under them who are helping with the crew. As someone who worked for a sports organization, i will tell you the people who run these Cleveland teams (Cavs/Monsters, Browns) on the business side are viewed in the highest regard in the industry. If you look across pro sports in the US you can find someone who came from a Cleveland team in most places. There is a reason the browns have been crap for so long and people still showed up. There is a reason after Lebron left the first and second times that arena was still filled. We truly are in a new era, no doubt about it.
The last time we had a deal with 1460, it was a mess. The signal couldn't be listened to in Dublin, games were constantly delayed or joined in progress, etc. What are we looking at? Some games on 97.1, others on 1460 and hopefully all via their websites, if only an exclusive deal? I'm not overly optimistic about the WBNS deal. We'll see.
I believe 30 of the games are on 97.1, 3ish is on 1460, and one will only be available to stream online. All games will also be available to stream online.
This was the most impressive part for me. I was expecting only a few games on 97.1. I was shocked when I saw how almost all of them will be there.
I have not heard from my contact in FO, but I just saw that the Crew game, as well as pre and post games, are now appearing in the future schedule on Fox Sports Go (under the FS Ohio tag). So I'm fairly confident this is how the STO games will be shown in the Dayton market.
Unpopular opinion: For now. If a lot of OSU games get announced for 3:30 or 4, then let's see what happens. It'll be at least 4.5 hours after OSU kickoff until they clear for next programming. (Unless WBNS knows something we don't.)
Well lookie here! The opening match will be on the radio in Cleveland. Has that ever happened before? It's a Crewsmas Miracle! SPECIAL BROADCAST - We're carrying the @ColumbusCrewSC opening match LIVE at 4:30p on ESPN 850 WKNR! I can confirm the Fox Sports Go app has Crew listed under FSO rather than STO. Thus making me eligible to watch in Dayton. Looking good so far!
That's good. In Cincinnati, we're going to have to play ESPN+ coverage roulette. Maybe we get the Columbus feed, maybe the Red Bull's one.
From Dayton Blacked our on STO because I’m outside Cleveland/Columbus area. Blacked out on DirecTV Direct Kick because I’m inside Columbus area. Figure that one out. ESPN+ blacked out because I’m within 75 miles. Fox Sports Go app works. Thank Guille.
I have vague memories of a radio network of a few Ohio cities, ending in maybe 2001 or 2002. I can't remember if Cleveland was part of the list or not
It's weird that you would have been blacked out on STO via a TV channel. I'm stumped. Well now. I see my on-screen guide has been updated for the Crew v FCD game...and it has the game on BOTH channels. FSCLE *and* FSCIN! If the game were to be blacked out, I would have expected my info to show poker, something Reds/CBJ related or something else.
I know it's person-specific and I apologize if it was discussed earlier in this thread or in another thread (they're all blending together...), but what do people think about ESPN+ from an MLS perspective? I didn't even look into it or any other non season ticket-related spending over the last few years, so I'm not sure what it really offers for MLS.
If you like watching the rest of the league, ESPN+ is great. I like watching others teams, so I use it a lot.
