That's the don't get your hopes up part, America can't win shit these days. Though Santos' form is also pretty bad.

I don't mind Lucas Zelarayan, but Sosa is straight asking to be called Tigres B.

What a difference it makes to have Cecilio and Menez in there. Now we will have them back and a rested Uribe. Uh-oh, that optimism is starting to rise again.

Aguilera looks like he might be out for the playoffs but I'd rather have Edson anyway.

So it will be Tijuana, Pumas, or Morelia depending on the Pumas result tomorrow. I like our chances against any of those.

Good result. Monterrey drew Tigres 2-2, so we've wrapped up second place, so we could potentially close every series if we make it to the final and Toluca is eliminated early.

We might lose Aguilera depending on how bad his injury is. Cecilio and Menez could not have returned at a better time. Lainez and Ibarguen were pretty shit today, although Lainez picked it up with some good passes and a shot on goal right before he was subbed out. I don't see him start a liguilla game unless we lose players again or fatigue.

Even with guaranteed home field advantage for the second leg, I don't have high hopes for this liguilla. We'll probably make it to semis, but I doubt we'll make it into the final.

Menez did really well, underrated player for America, just because he doesn't do Gignac numbers. Lainez was ignored/deep-lying playmaker isn't the best position for him. When he did finally get the ball he consistently looked better than the likes of Ibarguen, who was given the ball more than he was..

He was definitely better on the wing. The second half during the away leg against TFC, and first half of the return I remember him in that position. Univision dudes were saying his natural position is in the center.

Center might not be so bad, but not so damn deep, looked like a cdm at times. I assume Piojo's orders.

I would have preferred Xolos or Morelia over Pumas. They're similar to a Chivas, they tend to rise to the occasion against America. Although, I ain't even tripping.

Paul, Guido, and Menez made the ideal 11 for J17.

Tomorrow's line-up for the first leg:

    ------------------- Marchesin -------------------
    Aguilar --- Edson ----- Valdez --- Vargas
    -------------- Guido ------ Uribe ----------------
    ---- Renato ------ Menez ------ Cecilio -----
    ---------------------- Oribe ------------------------

That's the best 11 we got, imo. Feelin' good.

That's why he's benching dead weight Oribe. I believe Cecilio has experience playing striker in Paraguay, can't do it any worse than Oribe has this season.

Last season vs Cruz azul it was supposed to be easy and we all saw how that went, better not happen this time..

I got a good feeling tho pumas looked like trash on Sunday

Good win. We could have put the series away tonight, but our subs didn't respond. Lainez had a couple good dribbles, though neither of his resulting crosses found anyone.

Oribe...thanks for everything, but you gotta go.

Domination. I expected a good result but that was completely one-sided. Even though the first penalty was a bad call it was clear all game who the better team was.

Great game from Uribe and Menez. Cecilio looked more rusty.

It pains me to say it but Oribe is done. Not just declining, but done. It's just sad watching him out there at this point. I worry how many minutes Piojo and Osorio are going to give him because there's no tread on the tires.

Martin was the best sub of the three.

I would sit Cecilio and Menez for the return leg. Both are probably still finding their fitness so I don't want to overwork them too quickly.

Tomorrow's line-up for the second leg:

    ------------------- Marchesin -------------------
    Aguilar --- Edson ----- Valdez --- Vargas
    -------------- Guido ------ Corona -------------
    ---- Uribe --------- Menez ------ Ibarguen -----
    ---------------------- Oribe ------------------------

I'd rather see Lainez than Ibarguen but it is what it is. Glad that Piojo isn't risking the porcelain Renato and Cecilio.

comfortable lead...at home...I'm ok with this lineup. He's only played Lainez out of necessity so I'm not surprised he didn't start him and to be honest, I don't care.

I'm sure he'll get some minutes though.
