is alex ferguson managing Chelsea today? 10 extra minutes.... wtf great results today, and arsenal and man city play each other tomorrow, so at least one drops points
Mauricio Pochettino has confirmed midfielder Harry Winks has been taken to hospital after his serious-looking injury in the first half at Turf Moor. Winks appeared to catch his ankle while chasing Stephen Ward and he then stumbled into paraphernalia which was placed by the Spurs dugout.
I'm going to be a contrarian and say that I don't think Sissoko is that bad, it's just the huge transfer fee we paid to get him that's the problem (and his wages, too, if they are similarly high). Hope Wanyama is OK.
well, great victory at high price, but ...i'll take it! very poor wing/full backs, hopefully they'll improve (or at least on the right side when walker returns), sissoko...i don't see how this guy is a premier league player...back three were solid, dembele improved our midfield strength when came in, dele was average and eriksen a bit better. i thought janssen played very well and released a lot of space for others. son is best at what he does, using speed and finding space in 6 yard box and poaching goals. and the team overall showed a great spirit. COYS!
I thought the general understanding was the he only cost around 7 mil due to what Newcastle owed Spurs. That has been what I've been going on, not the 30 mil which was the agreement.
Results went well for Spurs today. A good victory, away, as well. But not happy that all three subs were due to injured players.
He's a good player who is being played out of position as a winger. His best moments for me have come when he's got options on both sides.
As it turned out, very important to get this win. Making up 7 points with only 27 available is still a very long shot but the press will jump at the chance to write about a title race again. If City can get a result against them next week, who knows.
had to work today, so i'm just heading off to a mate's to watch it. I simply had to check the result, though ... I was not going to piss away my Saturday night watching Spurs lose ... and believe me, Burnley away was one I deffo thought we could lose. I'm guessing the first half won't bother me as much as it did you guys.
This game shows the progress of the team. Two seasons ago we went there and drew 0-0 in a similar kind of game and could not break them down. Burnley are difficult to play because they line up in a very solid 4-4-2 and press the ball (I think they are among the leaders if not the leader in km's covered per match). I have seen them play home and away, and I am surprised their away record is so poor considering they play basically the same way. They also play direct, which is something few teams do nowadays, so the defence is always under pressure to defend crosses into the box. The change to 4-2-3-1 worked a treat (normally, we have had trouble in that formation creating chances against teams like Burnley that sit back) and Dyche's decision to substitute the pacey Gray, who was giving our defence headaches with his intelligent runs, was the turning point as Burnley had no threat to score after that.
