I mean, he really didn't. Charlie and Jona have been playing as a tandem since Alonso paired them together last season. Jona was injured last season and he had to wrestle his spot back from Celso Ortiz. Much like Cesar Montes after his injury at the Toulon tournament had to win his spot back from Vangioni.
Yup, and Alonso has been rotating him and the Paraguayan this season (although Jona recently suffered an injury).
only for CCL, Ortiz has started 7 out of 10 league games and missed two due to injury. Those were the games were Jona played in the league, other than that just Copa and CCL.

Don't know where else to post this question but I saw that the u22 traveled to Spain. Anyone know when and where they are going to play in Europe?
The question was never if he was injured or not. Tata still wanted him to form part of the team to start building up the new group. He even said Tecatito wouldn't have to train if he didn't want feel like he should, he just wanted him there.
IMO he should have been there and only because there are no other Fifa dates between now and the Gold Cup. At the very least he shows his committed and can start learning Tata's tactics and style.

Mexican fringe options like Jonathan dos Santos and Rodolfo Pizarro outplayed El Tri's superstars during the international break. This should be good news for Tata Martino, and Mexico fans, ahead of the Gold Cup.
