The NT will forever be a second tier team that will never evolve unless the FMF makes some serious changes Sad part is I don’t see that happening anytime soon. Been following the NT since the 90s, and nothing has changed. Sure, we have more players in Europe now than 20 years ago but the NT is still in the same place. The last 3 to 5 years though things have gotten worse I feel. The NT has been a shit show circus from the senior team all the way down to the youth teams, and the league itself has been going downhill in quality. That’s evident now more than ever seeing as our clubs are no longer in Libertadores. Add that to the fact we’ve been struggling more against MLS teams and we’re bringing in more useless foreign players which in turn prevent our young guys from growing. And now to top it all off, no more relegation and there have been rumors of wanting to merge with MLS. What’s so pathetic is that the FMF fails to see this and them along with Televisa have been selling the NT as if it was a damn Ferrari when in fact it’s more of a damn Fiat. Whatever though. Maybe it’s because of so many years of the same shit that I’ve come to accept the fact that Mexican fútbol will forever be stuck in mediocrity.
They do see it but the problem is the oligarchy social fabric in Mexico. Let's make it clear as possible, FMF le vale un cacaguate! And please, those clamoring for Mexican players to go to Europe... Unless you are going to a top tier team, why go and waste your time on a mid-lower level team in a league that is not as good and be bench. The framework for Mexican football in Mexico is broken- fix that first and things will improve. Look at Jurgen Damm's recent comments. He stated that he doesn't want to go to Europe (whether has has the playing level is a slightly different topic) because he will take a pay cut.
lol that is an idiotic take, most south americans in top tier teams start in midtable squads when they move from south america to europe, Suarez started in Groningen, Alexis Sanchez in Udinese, Vidal in Leverkusen, Cavani in Palermo, etc. At best you can hope for a Porto/Benfica get you like it happened with James, Di Maria or Falcao but most often than not you have to "picar piedra" when you move to Europe if you want to end on the elite, the problem is that our players are weak mentally and let the owners and directivos to use them as tools instead of rising up precisely because of what Damm said.
It's not the FMF but the clubs and liga mx. Argentina FA is one of the worsts in every sense in of the way and so are they clubs but look at them. They have enough talent that as soon as a semi good coach appears they become candidates. If Mexico had the talent then there would be no problem but they don't since they are always comparing to themselves and not seeing that other teams do the same. You say that Mexico has sent more players to europe and are still in the same place without realizing that because Mexico has been sending players to Europe, they might have remained them. If we went to the World Cup with an All Liga MX team like in 98 or that team that qualified in New Zealand, it would have been disastrous.
Get ready for the Liga Mediocre Mx apologists & naturalizado ball lickers to attack you. Spot on posts by you though So lifting up all domestic silverware like Raul Jimenez did in the Portuguese league w/ Benfica while resurrecting his career is a waste of time ? because playing against the likes of Veracruz, Necaxa, Leon screams top level competion He's the same idiot who claimed that the Eredivisie is worse than Liga Muy X Feyernood, Vitesse, Ajax, PSV etc would run circles around Lobos BUAP, Atlas, Puebla, Tijuana if they ever met in a tournament for prize money like the CWC
Aun asi, no supera mexico 8vos. Lo que si te digo que los maximos logros de mexico, incluyendo los subcampeonatos de la copa america y la mayor parte de nuestra copas de chocolate (oro), fueron jugando en la liga local: Copa Confederaciones 1999: Jorge Campos - Mexico UNAM Claudio Suárez - Mexico Guadalajara Joel Sánchez - Mexico América Rafael Márquez - Mexico Atlas Gerardo Torrado - Mexico UNAM Germán Villa - Mexico Necaxa Ramón Ramírez - Mexico UANL Alberto García Aspe (c) - Mexico América José Manuel Abundis -Mexico Toluca Cuauhtémoc Blanco -Mexico América Daniel Osorno - Mexico Atlas Óscar Pérez -Mexico Cruz Azul Pável Pardo -Mexico América Isaac Terrazas -Mexico América Luis Hernández - Mexico UANL Jesús Arellano - Mexico Guadalajara Francisco Palencia - Mexico Cruz Azul Salvador Carmona - Mexico Toluca Miguel Zepeda - Mexico Atlas Rafael García - Mexico Toluca Olympiadas 2012: José de Jesús Corona - Mexico Cruz Azul Israel Jiménez -Mexico UANL Carlos Salcido* - Mexico UANL Hiram Mier -Mexico Monterrey Dárvin Chávez - Mexico Monterrey Héctor Herrera - Mexico Pachuca Javier Cortés - Mexico UNAM Marco Fabián - Mexico Guadalajara Oribe Peralta* - Mexico Santos Laguna Giovani dos Santos - England Tottenham Hotspur Javier Aquino - Mexico Cruz Azul Raúl Jiménez - Mexico América Diego Reyes - Mexico América Jorge Enríquez - Mexico Guadalajara Néstor Vidrio - Mexico Pachuca Miguel Ponce - Mexico Guadalajara Néstor Araujo - Mexico Cruz Azul José Antonio Rodríguez -Mexico Guadalajara Sub17 2011: Richard Sánchez - FC Dallas Francisco Flores - Mexico Cruz Azul Carlos Guzmán - Mexico Morelia Antonio Briseño (c) - Mexico Atlas Jorge Caballero - Mexico Monterrey Kevin Escamilla - Mexico UNAM Jonathan Espericueta - Mexico UANL Julio Gómez - Mexico Pachuca Carlos Fierro - Mexico Guadalajara Arturo González - Mexico Atlas Marco Bueno -Mexico Pachuca José González - Mexico Pachuca Luis Solorio -Mexico Guadalajara Fabián Guzmán - Mexico Atlas Felipe Sifuentes - Mexico Monterrey Enrique Flores - Mexico Monterrey Giovani Casillas - Mexico Guadalajara José Tostado - Mexico Guadalajara Daniel Hernández - Mexico Atlas Marcelo Gracia - Mexico Monterrey Sub17 2005: Richard Sánchez - 5 April United States FC Dallas Francisco Flores - Mexico Cruz Azul Carlos Guzmán - Mexico Morelia Antonio Briseño (c) - Mexico Atlas Jorge Caballero - Mexico Monterrey Kevin Escamilla - Mexico UNAM Jonathan Espericueta - Mexico UANL Julio Gómez -Mexico Pachuca Carlos Fierro - Mexico Guadalajara Arturo González - Mexico Atlas Marco Bueno -Mexico Pachuca José González - Mexico Pachuca Luis Solorio -Mexico Guadalajara Fabián Guzmán - Mexico Atlas Felipe Sifuentes - Mexico Monterrey Enrique Flores - Mexico Monterrey Giovani Casillas - Mexico Guadalajara José Tostado -Mexico Guadalajara Daniel Hernández Mexico Atlas Marcelo Gracia - Mexico Monterrey Dilan Nicoletti - Argentina Newell's Old Boys Worldwide ranking #5 1997: Oswaldo Sánchez 21 -Mexico América Claudio Suárez (c) - Mexico Guadalajara Francisco Gabriel de Anda- Mexico Santos Laguna Germán Villa -Mexico América Duilio Davino - Mexico América Raúl Lara - Mexico América Ramón Ramírez -Mexico Guadalajara Braulio Luna - Mexico UNAM Paulo César Chávez - Mexico Guadalajara Luis García - Mexico Atlante Cuauhtémoc Blanco - Mexico Necaxa Óscar Pérez - Mexico Cruz Azul Pável Pardo - Mexico Atlas Isaac Terrazas - Mexico América Luis Hernández - Argentina Boca Juniors Markus López - Mexico Guadalajara Francisco Palencia -Mexico Cruz Azul Salvador Carmona - Mexico Toluca Noe Zárate - Mexico Guadalajara José Manuel Abundis - Mexico Toluca
The better players you have, the better team you have. The best players play in Europe's best team. The best Europeans teams play in the UCL latter stages. There is very, very strong correlation between how many player a national team has in the UCL's top teams and that teams performance at the World Cup (and Euro) There are some raw numbers out there, but it doesn't take a genius to see this....
Ferretti stressed that one of the differences between Mexico and Argentina is the international experience the home side possesses and that future El Tri players need to improve. "The problem that our players have is that we need more challenges at international level," he stated. "In all periods of the national team we always mentioned the same that we have a good group of players, but we get stuck in the same place. There are good players, but to achieve what we want, the level has to improve a lot more."
Unless the FMF could force individual clubs to invest heavily on youth scouting & training why blame them? That's the real problem after all.
Support of the national team has to collapse for anything to change. There is absolutely no reason to change a profitable venture otherwise. It would be madness from a business perspective to do so.
What about the coaching? We need to get rid of coaches like him and the young up and coming coaches also need to improve.
Which is why I always said a project to become THE premier coaching academy in the western hemisphere should be one of the things Mexico aspires to be.
