    Mathis just appears so sluggish and lazy when he's playing. He's almost become like Marco Etcheverry who jogged around but hit beautiful balls around the field to his teamates. I don't think that style fits in with Bruce's gameplan for the US squad.

    I hope he finds his stride with RLS. He is a fun player to watch when he's on his game.

    I was gonna say that Mathis seems to be a great league-man, meaning he loses something in the jump to international competition (think Steve Ralston in this regard). But Mathis had his national team moment, and scored well for a stretch. Now, there is Eddie GAM Johnson, so who needs Mathis?
