American Bruce Djite started up front for Adelaide United today for their match against Newcastle Jets in the Australian A-league. Bruce was born in Washinton D.C., but is now an Australian citizen I believe. Dave M-N has him on our YA list for 2007-08 so I say we claim him.

Why follow the Australian A-league? Why the hell not, I say.

He went 78 minutes before being subbed off for Australian Shaun Ontong. Newcastle went on to win 1-0.

By the way, a certain Diego Walsh played for Adelaide in this one. Is that the same Diego Walsh who played for the Columbus Crew? There's also a brazilian defender named Cassio for United. Is this the same Cassio who played for the Revs? The answers are yes and yes.

Actually this is some interesting stuff. I don't know why, but I'm quite interested in Americans playing in the A-League. Even more so than the lower divisions in countries like norway and sweden. I think more MLS rejects should try their luck down under.

    Well, I wouldn't go that far. :D

One thing to think about, though, is that even with this new forum do we really need a game thread for every YA out there? At a certain point we run the risk of this forum becoming just as cluttered as the old format. Two cases in point: do we really need new threads every week saying that Gibbs and Nguyen aren't playing?

I agree. I started the Nguyen thread not knowing if he'd play or not, but perhaps we could have avoided the Gibbs thread. Just to piss you off I'm going to start a Jay Denny thread right now:)
