Fury Stuns Klitschko To Become Heavyweight Champion - ESPN http://espn.go.com/boxing/story/_/i...r-klitschko-become-world-heavyweight-champion Tyson Fury, named after Mike Tyson, joined the Hall of Famer in the annals of heavyweight history as he dethroned long-reigning world champion Wladimir Klitschko by unanimous decision Saturday at Esprit Arena in Düsseldorf, Germany, where the pro-Klitschko crowd sat in disbelief as the massive upset unfolded. Fury did not look particularly good, but he was busier, landed more punches and had the spring in his step that Klitschko did not. The 39-year-old Klitschko appeared to grow old in the ring as he was outhustled throughout the fight by the 27-year-old British mandatory challenger. In the end, there was no miracle comeback, even though Klitschko's trainer, Johnathon Banks, told Klitschko in no uncertain terms as early as following the 10th round that he would need a knockout to win. Ramon Cerdan scored the fight 116-111, while judges Raul Caiz Sr. and Cesar Ramos both had it 115-112. Fury was deducted one point in 11th round for shots behind the head. ESPN also scored the fight 115-112 for Fury, who won Klitschko's cadre of alphabet title belts and the lineal world championship, although, according to Klitschko's camp, he has a clause in his contract that calls for an immediate rematch at his option, so a sequel is likely.
fury is not taken very seriously here in the UK, or at least wasn't. he was more famous for being a loudmouth traveller who would spend his time insulting other boxers, even making some pretty disgraceful claims at some of them. still, fair play to him. we will have to put up with a few months of his singing until someone takes his belts away
Fury And Klitschko Look To Exercise Rematch Clause - ESPN http://espn.go.com/boxing/story/_/id/14247957/fury-open-klitschko-rematch-unanimous-world-title-win
Anthony Joshua is flavour of the month. Pretty boy, talks well and built like a rank. But I think he's too manufactured and I don't think he has half the heart of someone like fury. The doubters still presist. IMO he will be around and champion for as long as he has Peter fury beside him. One of the best around
David haye has popped his head up now of course. I hope fury takes the fight sometime and pulls out at the last minute with a sore toe. Haye is a bitch who deserves nothing more from the sport.
Tyson Fury Stripped of IBF Belt for Declining Glazkov Bout - ESPN http://espn.go.com/boxing/story/_/i...ed-ibf-belt-declining-vyacheslav-glazkov-bout Tyson Fury was stripped of the IBF heavyweight title on Tuesday for declining to make his mandatory defense against Vyacheslav "Czar" Glazkov. The IBF canceled the purse bid for Fury-Glazkov, which was scheduled for noon ET Friday at the organization's office in Springfield, New Jersey. Fury could not commit to facing Glazkov next because Klitschko exercised his contractual right to an immediate rematch, which will take place as soon as April but likely no later than June. Even if Fury could get out of the rematch with Klitschko, there would be no reason -- he will earn many millions more to fight him again rather than face the relatively unknown Glazkov for a fraction of the money. To fill the vacancy, the IBF ordered the Florida-based Russian Glazkov to face unbeaten Carson, California, contender Charles Martin.
Artur Szpilka To Challenge WBC Heavy Titleholder Deontay Wilder - ESPN http://espn.go.com/boxing/story/_/i...an-16-heavyweight-title-defense-artur-szpilka
Szpilka should stay in cruiserweight where he belongs. Of course Wilder will fight the small heavyweight.
I thought he'd have a small but decent chance if he could get the KO but never saw him winning the way he did.
Can't blame Wilder for the opponent selection for this fight. He was set to fight Glazkov but he pulled out late to fight Charles Martin for the vacant IBF belt that they stripped from Fury. http://espn.go.com/boxing/story/_/i...azkov-opts-shot-ibf-belt-fight-deontay-wilder
I doubt anyone is taking his belts away soon. Klitschko looked absolutely useless in that fight, so you'd think Fury has to be the favorite in the rematch. And are there any other heavyweights out there that we can definitively say are better than Fury? I don't know. The Heavyweight division is relevant again though! Something that has to be celebrated!

Also to be at that event is Amir "Hardcore" Mansour vs. Dominic Breazale (undefeated 2012 US Olympian) What a great event and night of boxing.
Martin Stops Glazkov, Wins Vacant IBF Heavyweight Title - ESPN http://espn.go.com/boxing/story/_/i...cheslav-glazkov-wins-vacant-heavyweight-title BROOKLYN, N.Y. -- It came with a whimper and not a bang, but Charles Martin claimed athe vacant IBF heavyweight world title by stopping injured Vyacheslav "Czar" Glazkov in the 3rd round on Saturday night in a fight that proved nothing at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. Little had happened through the first two rounds, although Martin appeared to have the advantage based on his punch output. In the 3rd round, however, the right-handed Glazkov slipped to the canvas when his feet got tangled with the southpaw Martin and he went down. Referee Earl Brown properly ruled it a slip but Glazkov grimaced and appeared to hurt his right knee. When the fight resumed, Glazkov threw a punch and went down again without being hit in return. He dropped to the canvas, clearly in pain, because he knee badly buckled. He made it to his feet but could not go on and Brown stopped the fight at 1 minute, 10 seconds. The ringside doctor examined Glazkov in the ring and diagnosed him with a torn right ACL.
Wilder Retains WBC Heavyweight Title With Devastating KO - ESPN http://espn.go.com/boxing/story/_/id/14586613/deontay-wilder-ko-artur-szpilka-9th-round BROOKLYN, N.Y. -- WBC heavyweight titleholder Deontay Wilder's calling card is concussive power in his right hand and, oh boy, did he use it to turn out the lights on Artur Szpilka. With heavyweight legends Mike Tyson and Lennox Lewis -- two of boxing's greatest all-time punchers -- sitting ringside, Wilder conjured up memories of their big blows when he knocked Szpilka out cold in the 9th round to retain his world title before 12,668 on Saturday night at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. It was as devastating a knockout as one could score, so big that Szpilka was down and flat on his back for several minutes following the fight as medical personnel quickly swarmed him. Szpilka was eventually taken out of the ring on a backboard, put on a stretcher and taken to the hospital for evaluation. Wilder, who was leading 78-74, 78-74 and 77-75 on the scorecards at the time of the devastating knockout, retained his title for the third time. When the bout was over, another fight nearly broke out as lineal heavyweight world champion Tyson Fury, owner of two belts, entered the ring WWE-style, crashed Wilder's postfight interview on Showtime, and began singing before he and Wilder got into a nose-to-nose shouting match.
Glazkov is not that big for a modern day heavyweight. He'd have trouble with Fury, Wilder, even Klitschko. And what a right hook by Wilder last night. It was a short punch from the inside that had enough power to KO Szpilka. Now #1 mandatory contender for WBC is Povetkin. It will be Wilder's toughest test as a pro so far.

Philippines is disgustingly Catholic. You should see some of the ridiculous things that come up in Congress. OTOH, everyone has a gay cousin that they love and accept in the family... just not politically.
