Where are we going, sweetie? You're upset at a conversation about Hawaiian slang terms, in a thread about Bob Bradley's Swansea coaching experience, that has been resurrected from over a year ago. I may not have enough money to buy the required beer to put you in a good mood. You're not an angry drunk, right? Just relax.
Right. He’s doing a great job. I’m not sure that has a lot to do with what he did at Swansea though. Bradley took a long shot chance taking over mid season and failed He took a spot at lafc that gave him a solid runway and is killing it Even though lafc is a better setup for him etc it’s still too bad Swansea was less than ideal for him Still it happens and quite often with poorly run clubs
Hey, are you Hawaiian? I agree, particularly because, as an expansion team, he gets to pick from a number of MLS-quality players and high-priced DP's.
I use https://www.mlssoccer.com/standings for MLS standings because it has everything ESPN has plus points per game, home record, and away record.
Not with that combination. Minnesota had a team already in NASL, and then didn't splash any cash in the DP market. OCSC was ok in its first year, having splashed cash for Kaka, so that's about as close to "failure" as you can get. Perhaps Portland? I think Seattle was a pretty good expansion team with CD and Obafemi Martins. Who else? Expansion teams that spend lots of money tend to do well, it's no wonder that it's a better situation than Swansea.
NYCFC did not come out of the gate nor establish a firm footing for the future in the way that both LAFC and Atlanta did, and they had every advantage except for that stupid croquet lawn in a baseball stadium. They basically got it wrong. Orlando didn't do it BADLY but they haven't built their team well, apart, of course, from their local support. Seattle was decent as far as expansion teams in 2009 went, but it took them a number of years to get good, and that period has already come and gone. From the same period of time Philadelphia were and pretty much always have been fodder, as have been the backwards-expansion Quakes apart from one season when everything went well. Portland, Vancouver, Montreal... Which one can say that they got off to a start and established themselves for the future on anywhere near the same level as LAFC and Atlanta? (Support aside. What most of these teams have in common are large and enthusiastic fan support, very much in contrast to a lot of the older teams in the league.)
There's your answer for NYCFC. Sweltering matchbox in the Northeast vs. gorgeous stadium in SoCal. It's easy to "adjust" to the latter. New expansion teams are seemingly doing better and better. I agree, ATL and LAFC have set the standard, I think we're splitting hairs. I'm just saying that it's quite obvious that the situation in LA is vastly more favorable to BB than his tenure at Swansea. It's why Wagner's relegation-escaping Huddersfield are so highly regarded. Those slogs at the bottom of the EPL are extremely tough.
