Diallo was a poisonous presence. Twellman was quoted as saying that Mama told him to stop scoring because he, Mama, was paid to score.Twellman laughed in his face.

OK fellas, here's the breakdown. From a value standpoint the Metros made out bigtime. Mamadou was struggling because he wasn't a good fit on the team. Diego was struggling because he's got serious issues and a terrible work ethic.

Now, from an impact standpoint the deal has helped both equally. Mamadou had to go because he and Twellman weren't going to fit. Daniel had to go from the Metros because apparently he had alienated some teammates and Octavio panicked. the Metros needed a playmaker while Clint was gone and Williams was perfect. The team's problems have less to do with the former Revs than the people who were already with the Metros.

None if it will matter much Saturday because the Metros will win. They just match up better with the Revs.

Crunching the numbers makes it look like a wash.
Both teams were playing poorly before the trade (1.0 pts per game for us, 1.1 for them) and have nearly identical records since then (1.4 pts per game). The Revs have scored less (-.32 goals/game) since the trade, but their goal difference has actually improved by 1. The Metros have scored just slightly less, and their goal difference is the same as it was on the day of the trade.

Now if there was a way to figure out how the two teams would have done if the trade didn't happen.

Far from clear. Yes Andy Williams mught have been the best player involved in the trade. But Hernandez (IMO) was probably the second best. Diallo was not doing well in New England and now is not doing well in Metroland. There's some question whether, with all his baggage, he will ever do well in the MLS again (and he seems of done worlds of good for Rodrigo Faria hasn't he?).

Kamler has played much better than Chrono - it's just that simeple

If Serna had played more and poached a few more goals (which almost certainly would have gotten the Revs a few more wins), this trade would seem like a slam dunk. As it is (and I keep saying that it'll take a year to be sure) the winner of this game will get the "best of trade" bragging rights for the next six months or so.
