Is it a bummer? Indeed. But a trio of Cout-Firmino-Salah is pretty damn similar to the Cout-Firmino-Mane trio that worked well for us last year. This is exactly why we spent money on Salah.
Sadio Mane and Adam Lallana will be in contention to return from injury against Southampton, ironically the club they both joined Liverpool from. The pair are not available for this weekend, nor Maribor midweek or West Ham next – but following another two week break for the international matches, could return to the starting XI for November 16 at Anfield.
Coutinho out with an abductor strain according to Twatter early this morning. Surprised it wasn't posted here yet.

good news about Matip ..... ? Jürgen Klopp has revealed that Joel Matip will miss Wednesday's meeting with Spartak Moscow due to injury but has played down fears that the defender is facing up to a month on the sidelines. The former Schalke man missed out on Liverpool's weekend win at Brighton and Hove Albion after picking up a knock during the preceding victory over Stoke City. And Klopp has now confirmed that Matip will be unavailable when the Reds contest their final Champions League group game against Spartak at Anfield in midweek. However, he does not expect to be without his No.32 for too long. "He has hurt his muscle. I don't know how long exactly he'll be out, but he's definitely not playing Wednesday," he said. "A month? No, I don't think so. But as always, it's possible. We have to wait. But it's possible that it will be shorter. We will see."
Joel Matip is set to give Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool a timely boost as he eyes a return to action over the Christmas period. Matip has been sidelined with a thigh injury and has not featured in the last three fixtures for the Reds. The Liverpool Echo report that the 26-year-old is not set to play a part against West Brom on Wednesday or Bournemouth on Sunday, but Manager Klopp has admitted his player is ahead of schedule. Klopp said, "It could be possible that Joel will be back for some of our Christmas games. I really hope so but it’s not for sure at this stage. The fact he’s running again outside is a good sign. If nothing else happens then he will be close.”
hendo could be out 2 months .... http://thekoptimes.com/2017/12/29/l...key-first-team-star-ruled-out-until-february/
The other question is when is Moreno back - looks like his injury was much more severe than originally expected. Robertson and Milner are the only players for the LB spot.
It will be interesting to see how much Clyne is used when he is recovered. Trent and Gomez both of potential to be future stars, and should not lose any playing time. This could mean that Gomez sees more time at CB with Clyne rotating with Trent. However, with Lovren back in form, that makes it tougher for Gomez. Good problems to have.
Maybe but I'd not mind seeing a good ball player playing in defence. But your point is well made as Gerrard also started as right-back.
Liverpool centre-back Joel Matip is set to miss the rest of the season as the club say he is "likely to require an operation on a thigh injury". The 26-year-old suffered the injury during the win at Crystal Palace on Saturday but played the whole game. A Reds statement said "the operation is likely to end" Matip's "involvement in the remainder" of the campaign. Liverpool play Manchester City in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final on Wednesday. The Germany-born, former Cameroon defender has made 25 league appearances this season, scoring once. Matip's injury comes after fellow defender Joe Gomez suffered an ankle injury playing for England during the international break. Midfielder Adam Lallana also suffered an injury against Palace which manager Jurgen Klopp described as "serious".
A small sliver of good news .... Jurgen Klopp said Adam Lallana is out injured for a "number of weeks" with a hamstring problem but left open the possibility of the midfielder playing again this season.
I know Im not going to win a popularity contest with the next question but is Lallana even that big of a loss?
