Unless they are artificially calling this a sellout at a significantly reduced number, the stadium holds holds over 80k Andy
Little hard to conduct surveilance of the Embassy Suites from your mom's basement I'd imagine though.
The upper deck is not used, and I bet they are not selling all the rest, but no worries about a sell out. probably still 20-30k tickets available.
Do yourself a favor and never show up to a USMNT game where I will attend. Oh never mind... you wouldn't anyway. I've heard of plastic hooligans before, but never one made out of styrafoam. Sachin
I'm gonna be there on Wed., my first US game that counts, and I cannot wait stupid question - do they sell beer in the stadium? will effect how long we tailgate and when we go into the stadium thanks
I'll be there. Anyone want to bet me a beer that NYR Metros wont? On topic: Speaking of Hartford, this game has been or should be a pretty good template, hopfeully in how a non MLS city can get US Supporters mobilized. I'm really eagerly waiting to see how everythign turns out tommorow with you guys and the stadium. Some people are already starting the wheels in motion for Hartford but it'll be nice to see what to do and maybe what not to do from your expierence.
Are there any bars in Birmingham that show FSC? There are a couple of WCQ on during the afternoon that I wouldn't mind catching.
Some answers to a couple of questions asked... First off, there seems to be some question as to how many can be seated at Legion Field. Legion Field seats about 82,000 (including the upper deck), but as mentioned already, the upper deck has been condemned and will be removed a short time after the game Wednesday. The lower bowl (ie, the rest of the stadium without the upper deck) still seats about 72,000. The upper deck seats only about 10,000 so that's all you would lose. I do not expect a sellout, but I wouldnt be surprised to see around 30,000. Secondly, as far as beer, I'm not positive whether it will be sold or not. UAB plays at Legion Field and for those games, beer is not sold... however, I do believe beer will be sold at an international event such as this.
I believe Dreamland bar-b-que(14th ave Sth & 15th st south) is showing the England game. this was set up in another thread. I'll be there with hopefully many others.
There was consensus at the "happy hour" that Dreamland at 130pm. No reservations, though. Parking can be difficult. 14th and 14th South is what a local stated.
I am not sure if this question has been asked here yet, but if so bear with me. Maybe someone can save me the time of reading all 30 some pages of this thread. Does the stadium have bench type seats or actual stadium seats? I guessing it has actual seats but I thought I would just check.
I don't know where to park for tailgating, but a few of us Azteca veterans from Atlanta will be arriving in a green caddy with a grill and cooler. Look for us.
Note, the match is at 12:30 central. I plan to call Dreamland this morning to give them some heads up.
Yeah... there are probably only a couple hundred "seats" and they're located around midfield just below the homeside press box. The other thousands of seats are bench-style.
