I was speaking figuratively, not literally, but I'm sure you knew that. As for hypothetical questions, posters can either take advice or leave it. There are so many paths a child can take on their football journey. There are no right or wrong answers, you do what you think is right and deal with the outcome. I made mistakes through my own playing days and I'd hate to see my child, or any of the children I coach make the same mistakes.
