This, I couldn't believe watch I was watching when that happened. Also, I was a big fan of the Danish team of the 80's/early 90's, and thus Michael Laudrup's goal against Uruguay in Mexico 86 is up there for me.
I think any good goal should be attributed not just to individual brilliance, but as brilliance culminating from team work. That is why Rhyan Giggs's goal against Arsenal in the 1999 FA Cup finals makes my cut for the best.
I agree. Argentina's goal against Serbia in the 2006 World Cup in which they strung more than 20 nice passes together was one I remember for exceptional team play.
I have found an exceptional site that has a mutual matches ( period-end 2-1 1-2 ), and even since 1990, for Soccer. I am a registered member and would recommend it to anyone who likes to bet. Such information does not have anywhere in the world, I check. www.archivesoccer.com
Two that have been mentioned above and two that haven't: 1. Josimar for Brazil against Northern Ireland in the 1986 World Cup. A curving long-range blast into the upper corner. 2. Dwayne DeRosario's free kick for San Jose against Los Angeles in 20??. The camera angle from the other end of the field, in which the camera, the ball and the post were all lined up in a straight row, showed that there were two members of the wall who were positioned wide of the goal. DeRosario still bent it around them and back into the net. 3. David Platt for England against Belgium in the 2nd round of the 1990 World Cup. A stunning volley right on the stroke of full time in a tied game. 4. Romario for Brazil against Uruguay in the deciding game of the 1989 Copa America. A fairly simple goal, but a beautiful build up. Also, it was at the Maracana and helped to exorcize the ghosts of 1950. All that said, I still liked Dennis Bergkamp's goal for Holland against Argentina in 1998 better than any of them.
Don't think anyone has mentioned it yet, but Trevor Sinclair's goal for QPR has to be one of my favourites: [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y2KeX7nhZRY"]YouTube - Trevor Sinclair wonder goal[/ame]

I ran a search of this thread and see only 2 people said anything about maxi rodriguez in WC 2006. I think that's the best goal I've ever seen. It was disgusting.
