Bruges indeed lost to Bordeaux in the uefacup, but earlier this year they won from AC Milan at San Siro and from Ajax home in the champions league. The team is not very technical, but has a good system and is investing in technical players by the influence of general manager Marc Degryse.

I, myself,am Lierse SK supporter. They won the championship in 1997, even played champions league the year after, but aren't playing too well for the moment. They even barely got their licence as they have financial problems, due to investments in the stadion. It is, however, together with Anderlecht and Genk, one of the 3 clubs that owns it's own stadion.

KSK Ronse is rather an unknown team in Belgium. Some years ago they fought theirselves into the second division and were able to stay there. I don't believe they have ever been in the first division, at least not after world war two. They do have some fanatic supporters, however, but Ronse is too small a town to have a big soccer club.

I'm wondering lately: how is Freddy Adu doing? Is he the biggest talent since Maradonna?

    Greetings,
    Tom

Freddy scored a great goal last week, at 14 its hard to say how big a talent he is going to be, but he's very impressive.

Ronse - how big is the stadium? What kind of crowds do they get?

I've found some additional information on Ronse. Not the attendance level and the stadion capacity, however, but I'll look it up over the weekend.
    Here it comes:
    Top goalscorers this season:
    10 goals Gregory Lino Ferreira

    6 goals Medhi Beniassi

    2 goal Stephane Van Laere

    2 goals Jurgen Spileers

    1 goal Joan Debut

    1 goal Nico Boone

    1 goal Fabien Delbeecke

    1 goal Aland Devillers

    1 goal Farid Bihhi

    1 goal Stephane Confente

    1 goal Kristof Grondin

    Nr. : 038
    founded : 1987
    clubcolors : blue - red - white
    Stadion:
    Orphale Cruckestadion
    Leuzesesteenweg 183/a
    9600 Ronse
    chairman: Andre Deruyver
Sports manager: Mr. Yves Vancoppenolle - Jean Claude Stockman
    correspondent: Mr. Yves Merchiers
    Main sponsor: Associated Weavers Ronse

KSK Ronse was founded in 1987 when club Ronse and Assa Ronse merged.
Assa Ronse was founded in 1906 and club Ronse in 1908.
They both played in the second division back then
Club Ronse relegated to 2 th provincial league and Assa Ronse to 4 th provincial. (4 national leagues and then 4 provincial leagues in every province)
After merging in 1987 SK managed to play in the first provincial league in 1990.
In 1991 SK Ronse ended up in 4 th national.
In 1998 SK almost relegated from this league!
Thanks to trainer Rik Vandevelde SK managed to become champion in 4th national in the season 1999-2000, after 35 years SK finally was in 3 th national!
The season afterwards they became champion in 3th national. Ever since they play in the second division.

Why are you so interested in Ronse?

I heard they were an up and coming team looking to bring in some American players. I haven't heard any Americans linked to them (or any other Belgian team) for that matter.

    Thanks for the info.

Actually, on a whole, the game against Turkey was a better allround performance. Allthough we lost that one 3-2, our attack was more present throughout the game. Only difference was, that night, our defence play some schoolboy stuff. Last night, we handled most of Oranje's attacks well without too much trouble. And on the one or two occassions our defence was beat (e.g. Sneijders shot from 25 yards out), or gk's saved us.

On a side note, both Tristan Peersman and Erwin Lemmens impressed me tonight. I think there can be no doubt to who will be our goalkeepers when Devlieger decides to hang up his boots.

Who knows really? There is talk of him leaving, but then again, there was talk of the same last summer and the summer before. This might be the year though, since they have a valid replacement for him now in Victor. When Victor is fit, he will be chosen above Mendoza, which means that he would have to battle it out with four other guys (Lange, Saeternes, Balaban and Smolders) for the second striker spot on the team. I think it might be best both for Brugge and Mendoza to part ways now.

    Surprised Baseggio didn't play.

I want one of those Belgian Nike Sweatshirts. Anyone have any pictures of the Belgian away kit this time?

and so is Jeremy Brechet, a French left defender/winger who claims the hundred meters in 11 seconds.

At boca juniors, a young Belgian with ukranian roots made his debut. Michael Yourassowski is an 18 year old defender who left anderlecht in 2000.

Not sure yet. He played for both in youth teams I believe, but he seems to have cut the ties with Belgium.
