Guardian says they want mkhi instead. Manchester United have offered playmaker Juan Mata to Inter Milan as part of a deal to bring in 24-year-old midfielder João Mário. (Source: Corriere dello Sport) pic.twitter.com/LREUHLxQwj— Transfer News Live (@DeadlineDayLive) December 7, 2017
Manchester United want Alex Sandro. Him + Malcolm would be our wing sorted on both sides and ends. Getting support from our Fellaini-love crowd.
Sandro, Malcolm, Goretzka (/Saul if he is willing to move), Oezil can be the window(s) that propels us back into tier-1 and it won't cost a ridiculous amount either.
Interesting development on Sandro, whom Juve appear to be willing to sell if their £52mil valuation is met. Them reportedly trying to get Gaya as well makes his departure likely. Chelsea though, who have been after him since this past summer would still be an obstacle in United's way. Very likely also that our interest in Sandro is Ribalta influenced (having helped bring him to Juve in the first place). Certainly would be better value spending that kind of cash on him, rather than Rose whose £50mil valuation is definitely excessive (Spurs/Levy tax, plus the fact he's English). As far as Joao Mario is concerned, I've never seen what the fuss was about, whether it's with Inter (where he couldn't land a regular starting spot) or with Portugal. Really hope we stay away.
I don't. At one point he was in the know, but he doesn't know shit now. He's just taking guesses like the rest of them.
Trust is a strong word but Castles has a direct line up Jose despite living in Cape Town. It doesn't mean he actually has info everytime he writes something.
I think we need a new 10 for sure. Miki hasnt looked the part since joining. But Joao Mario isn't good enough.
Sure. Ozil is available. The question would be whether it makes sense financially since he's available in the summer for free. Rose/Sandro are available to fix our LB position. Neither would be cheap but not hugely expensive. There's countless CM options available. We could pay Greizmann's buyout. Although if it happens it will be in the summer. It just doesn't make sense for now. He's unable to play in the CL with us and the league is all but over. With the WC being this summer, we should be aggressive with some of our summer targets and get them in before their prices potentially blow up if they have a good tournament.
All good options, I just can't see any of those teams letting their big players go in the middle of the season.
And that's the issue with January transfers. It's not as simple as saying that plenty of players are available. The only ones that have a chance of moving at that time are either players that are in a difficult situation at the club (and therefore the club would be happy to sever ties), or if a player is surplus to requirements/not in the plans of the club. Or finally, if the players' contract is coming to an end later that year and the club does not want to let them leave for nothing. The only players who may fit in any of those criteria are Rose and possibly Sandro (if the rumors of a fallout with Juve are true). For better or worse, Bale could be another one if the rumors of Real ready to cut bait are true. Ozil is not necessarily a fit because Arsenal appear ready to hold onto to him (and Sanchez) even if it means letting them go for free in the summer. We can pay Griez's clause but it's still a matter of convincing the player to accept the move. Atletico don't have to let him go just because United puts the €100mil. Moreover, unless Griez forces a move (which he does not appear eager to do at this time), Atleti have no reason to sell now, when they'll get the exact same amount in the summer, after the season is over and they will have secured CL football for next year. With Costa coming and partnering Griezmann, who knows, they could even make a push for the title even... Goretzka's contract is coming to an end in the summer, but he does not look ready to leave until the summer either and Schalke appear to be fine with, especially since they're doing so well so far and have plenty to play for. So yeah, barring favorable circumstances, big January moves are more the exception than the actual rule.
Believe all the posturing you want from Wenger and Arsenal. If they know he doesn't intend to resign and they get a sizeable offer in January, they will let him leave. Wenger is stubborn, he's not stupid.
That's kind of the point: I don't believe Wenger and Arsenal to be stubborn, they are deluded when it comes to this matter. They haven't sold either player this past summer when they could have because they believe that they will ultimately convince one or possibly even both players. There's no indication they will do so, yet here we are. And I'm sure there would be a price where they would be willing to let him, but what's the amount: 20, 40, 50mil? The club's position so far indicates clearly that they are not overly worried about losing either player for free, if it comes down to it and gives them a shot a resigning them... Plus, unless you're City or PSG and don't care at all about the money being spent, who in their right minds will go over the odds for a player they can sign to a pre contract as soon as the window shuts and can get for nothing at the end of the season?
That's not entirely true. They were on the brink of selling Sanchez this summer but didn't because City left it too late for them to bring in a replacement. It's not like they were set on keeping him, they just didn't want to be left short.
Sanchez, I suppose is always possible, since he appears to be the one who has been dead set on leaving, but we'll see. That whole deal that went down late was always suspicious to me anyhow, if we're being completely honest (kind of like the faulty fax machine story with De Gea). Besides, hard to see them selling both players in the middle of the season, when they still have so much to play for (getting back in the top 4 for starters). And those hopes would be completely dashed if both Sanchez and Ozil are allowed to leave.
Agreed. The main reason to not buy in Jan is that we are not winning either of the two big trophies and unless we implode, we should have enough to finish in the top 4 with Bailly, Pogba, Zlatan in addition to what we have had recently.
