Barras, This friday as some of you know Street Soccer USA is holding its national tournament in downtown DC at the Kastles tennis stadium (10th & H St, NW). As most of you know, SSUSA is a group -- I'm a board member -- that helps people get out of homelessness by getting onto soccer teams. Anyway, Tommy and the rest of the drummers will be there to bring some rhythm and lead cheers, and the organizers have asked us to mobilize a contingent to create atmosphere "Barra style" to give the tournament a true kickoff. So we want you to be there. But wait. There's more... There are two added bonuses... First, the tournament starts at 5, and the first match (6PM) is between the DC team and their hated NYC rivals. The NY team that gets all the press, has a beautiful field and is better funded than our harder-working DC guys (sound familiar anyone?). So bonus #1, you can root for DC to beat NY in soccer and we'll likely win. 2) The Barra keg challenge. Its simple. I believe in this organization and I believe in the Barra, so I'll make the following deal. For EVERY 15 Barra that show up for the event wearing Barra gear and help us make some noise, I'll buy a keg for the home game August 14th. If 15 Barras are there, 1 keg. If 30 of you yahoos show, 2 kegs. If we can get 45, 3 kegs. If we get a big crowd, well, ask Bootsy, he can do math. And no crappy beer, I promise. Just before the event at 5 a group of us will be getting together at the Capitol City Brew pub for a pre-game beverage, and I might even be induced to buy a round there. So this is the gig. Last year the tournament was great and 4 Barras showed up. Everyone who did -- ask Jose -- had a great time. This year I'd like to really show our colors to the city. Its good publicity for the Barra and for DCU, it will help the DC team, it will be fun and hell, you're being BRIBED directly. Please spread this around Barra world, as I'm not on Facebook. And please do show! Sing for your beer! Thanks, Andy (DangerMouse)
I'll sweeten the pot: I'll pony up a fine bottle of rum (Owen and Chico choice) to go with the first keg Andy buys for the August 15th to go to the winner who guesses when the keg runs out. (Yes liquor lotto needs to come back). I ain't done. If enough show up for Andy to have to buy a second keg. I will put up a bottle of Patron to be raffled off the same way. I've been one to put my money where my mouth is. If it goes beyond 45, I will probably sweeten the deal. 30 Barra can make a ton of noise. Don't let me down Barra. We need serious numbers there. Pops
Andy, I got ya covered on getting another keg if you are paying for it. So just let me know and I'll make sure Total has what ya want. So what time are we meeting at Cap City?? ~Stephanie
Keep it going. 18 is a keg of cool, tasty cerveza. Just enough for a quarter of the tailgate for perhaps 15 minutes. MAKE MACK BUY BEER. Sign up to make noise for a good cause...
I might be there before 5... Add another to the count, someone else I know doesn't do FB either, but I'm on there.
http://www.washingtonkastles.com/teams/article.aspx?article_id=178 I guess I park my car at City Prkng Lot to East of stadium? Any feedback from somebody familiar with the area? GM
Just show up. We should have the Barra banner (whoever is bringing that, please pm me) and we'll get a block of seats as soon as I know how many kegs worth of people we're bringing. Metro accessible also.

I think this might be arranged Also stay tuned for another big announcement from Oscar about ticket discounts for Barras that are there on Friday.
@Grill: The city parking lot will be the easiest to park at since you walk right over to the stadium. @waterbaby: I will be there shortly before 5. Cap City is my office's back yard.
To ALL Barra members and D.C. United FANS, As part of our community support, the Barra is encouraging you all to come out to the Street Soccer USA tournament this weekend, starting this Friday with the opening game between the DC team and the team from New York. Andy Mack (DangerMouse) has already issued his Barra keg challenge -- see Big Soccer, Facebook or Barra-Brava.com for details to see how you can show up, cheer for DC and help win kegs for our next tailgate. Now I'm going to add in another incentive... For everyone who shows up in Barra gear and sings with us on Friday -- members and even non-members -- the Barra will give them an additional $4 off their normal ticket price for the game on the 14th. That's $4 off the member price for members, and $4 off the non-member price for everyone else. Sign in with Andy on Friday so we can make sure to get you your discount. The newspapers will be there. The politicos will be there. I'm in Bolivia, or I'd be there. With all the negativity around, let's show DC how passionate fans support their sport and their community. Aloha from Santa Cruz, Oscar
