The return of Michael Ballack to Chelsea's midfield has been productive.
    • Dec. 19 v Liverpool: His header leads to Sheva goal (90) *Carling
    • Dec. 26 v Aston Villa: Ballack goal (88)
    • Dec. 29 v NCFC: His initial header leads to Essien goal (29)
    • Jan. 1 v Fulham: Ballack goal (pen 62)
Thoughts? Was he worth the wait?

His diving has been most impressive.

Seriously though, I'm just glad that he has been able to play his natural game without any interference from Lampard. He's clearly the superior player.

    I disagree.

Lampards form for Chelsea coincides with their best run of form. He's a bigger threat on goal and leads the side much better.

Ballack is a great player, but sticking him in the same side as Lampard is possibly the worst thing that coulod have hapened to him. From a tactical points of view it was suicide and was never going to get the best out of either of them....

Interesting discussion regarding Ballack and Lampard. That is a point I failed to consider.

    Cheers.

He is starting to get used Chelsea and the playing style and that reflects upon his game. He also started to take up more responsbility in the game.

Hell no he wasn't worth the wait. He might be playing very well now, but he's eaten a lot of Chelsea's money up with very little in return. With all that said, I'm absolutely delighted he's playing well now.

Yes, I have to concur re: the wasted money. A long time to rehab.

He cost them nothing in a transfer fee but his wages of £127,000 a week (approx. $250,000 a week) is amazing.

He's the wrong age for them to truly get value for money. He's 30 now so they'll be lucky to get 2 more years of top level football out of him.....

We will see if he continues to produce. One thing is for sure. In the short term, they are going to need Ballack's production.

    Cheers.

Two big dives lead to two big goals - if he keeps it up he'll score and set up many more.

let's be optimistic that his best is yet to come, he is able to contribute more with a more central role to play,

If Chelsea are smart they will sell Lampard and allow Ballack to shine.
