Shocking but good. I'd like to see some parity in Bahrain's league.

A couple of catchup games were played last night, league properly resumes on Tuesday

ABDULRAHMAN Mubarak registered a brace to help lift Riffa to a 2-0 victory over Al Hala last night in their Bahrain First Division Soccer League match played at the National Stadium.

Mubarak scored on either side of half-time to lead his team to the win.

He opened his account in the ninth minute, and it was enough to give Riffa the one-goal advantage at the break.

Mubarak continued his fine form after the re-start, finding the net once more in the 58th to double their lead and virtually secure the victory.

The result marked Riffa's first triumph after only two games so far in this year's league competition. They had previously lost their only other match.

Hala suffered their maiden defeat after beginning their campaign with three successive draws.

Riffa are ranked sixth with three points, not far ahead of Hala who are in eighth also on three markers.

In last night's other match, struggling sides Al Najma and Al Hidd played to a 1-1 stalemate.

Ismail Mohammed gave Hidd the lead just after the half-hour mark.

Mohammed Abdulaziz replied for Najma 10 minutes into the second half.

Both sides tried to find the equaliser over the remainder of the contest, but they each came up short.

Both Najma and Hidd came away with their third deadlock of the season. They remained tied with Riffa and Hala on three points apiece.

It's been a funn old campaign in Bahrain. Stop start, stop start.

*It would appear that Malkiya and Al Shabab have withdrawn although they do still stand in many league tables found on various websites, including FIFA's.

*If they don't play their games, and i'll strongly say they won't, then we are down to a 14 game campaign.

*The 2nd Division seems to have gone on hold. Nothing seems to be happening. But I'd be tempted to say that both divisions could come together as one again next campaign. It's not unusual for this to happen in Bahrain.

*In the GCC, Al Riffa have to beat Al Shabab of the UAE in their final game o qualify for the next stage.

*On the other hand, Al Ahli withdrew from the competition.

Al Muharraq claimed the King's Cup for the 28th time today after defeating Busaiteen 3:0 in the final.

Al Muharraq made the final with a walkover victory on Tuesday against Al Hidd due to a dispute abouth the day of the match. It was to be played on the Monday but the BFA postponed a day without telling Al Hidd until they were on the pitch waiting for kickover on the Monday night.

Al Muharraq won the cup without losing a goal in 4 games. Full results cna eb found here:

Al Muharraq, champions of the Gulf for the first time. An amazing turnaround in the Emirates to beat Al Wasl 3:1 on the night and to win the trophy on penalties. What a come back after being 3:1 down after the first leg at home.

New campaign is at the mid way point and has now taken a short break, but the BFA Cup is in full flow, played in two Groups, one featuring 9 teams, and one with 10 teams.

The Prestigious King's Cup kicks off in early January.

Back to the Premier League, this year know as the Viva League current has Riffa Club 6 points clear of Al Muharraq. As you can see from the champions list, these two are the biggest clubs in Bahrain.

The Bahraini Football Association also sport an English language website with latest news on all fronts - it's worth checking out: http://bfa.bh/
