I Agree, i no longer see the U.S. as a uninspired team. They got some tactics that could probably be succesful against the biggest and best of teams but right now they havent had the consistency to show that they deserve the seed, now imagine all the arguments their would be with the U.S. got the seed when holland could have received it, no way do i think U.S. would have came in second as an option for the seed.
Performance-wise, Mexico likely deserves the seed ... but in the gut it's not right. CONCACAF is very well represented by Mex/US. Both are capable of moving beyond group phase and well into the knockout round.

Yes, Mexico deserved their seed. Name the other nations that have made the knockout rounds for 3 straight world cups. Or won their group 2 of the last 3 world cups. Either list is small. Then throw in their accomplishments in recent Confederation Cups and Copa Americas, and what marks Mexico is its consistency. Some are more impressed by the higher levels reached by, say, Holland, but the FIFA formula rewards Mexico's clear edge in consistency over Holland's edge in (occasional) excellence. Just because Mexico has few players in Europe, and most who have gone have been disappointments, people are underrating them. It's unfair. Nope, when we beat Brazil, it was in the Gold Cup.

Since the US missed it by a point, I wonder what would have happened had we gone to the Confed Cup and performed well? Mexico did what they had to do to get the seeding they got. They were smart about it and played well enough to get it. The US needs to do the same.
