Biggest problem I see is he'll have to sort out whether Acme will stay as the official grocery store of the Union, or if it will become Whole Foods. Maybe they will sweeten the pot for STH's on the fence about redopping by throwing in a free year of Amazon Prime.
“I think we invest $5-10 million a year in this club, and that’s all we can ever do“ If this is the case, with all due respect, you can’t afford to be an owner in this league.
He’s an asshole. You’re over your skis Jay. Just sell. It may be booze talking but if some minor league team came out of the woodwork I might just become a fan of them instead. This lack of ambition is ********ing sickening... maybe I can go to Junior Lone Star Games. WHY DO THESE COCK SUCKERS MAKE ME HATE THE TEAM I WANT TO LOVE?
I’m not really a pro/rel guy but that payroll is definitely in the sweet spot for winning the USL championship every other year.
http://www.philly.com/philly/sports...-jay-sugarman-academy-prospects-20171204.html “The league is built on trying to find that balance between continuing to grow as an organization while also putting a better and better quality product on the field,” he said. “We have to come up with mechanisms that allow us to be competitive.” That mechanism is called “selling the team”
Clearly I've given the U too much credit. Someone should at least email them and tell them to get the latest incarnation of Football Manager FFS.
When making the playoffs is no longer a "MUST", it is time for ownership to go! We can't compete for players, we can't compete evenly on the field, what can we compete for?
That they won't let us bring into the stadium? The LAST time it got this bad the team was confiscating any anti owner tifo or signs the moment they popped up from the crowd. I don't think even if the SOB did a giant overhead calling him out would he be bothered in the least. Dude sits on the expansion committee, collects checks every single time they let another team into the league. He is sitting on us until expansion is capped and he can flip the team for a nice profit. The only thing that would put us all out of our misery was if they moved the union to columbus. That has a better chance of happening then Jay spending money, or selling the team in the near future. And I hope I'm wrong. But I doubt it.
15,000 people tossing pennies onto the field before the game (to not hurt any players) would be nice. Getting a bunch of fake "Jay Sugarman Donation" bins and putting them around the stadium would also be a nice touch.
And the stances they actually take are absurd. Tifo critical of the ownership? Nope. No can do. Poor fan sits for a few minutes in 90+ degree heat during a game we are actually winning? Let's get the whole River End to heckle and make the guy feel like an asshole, and even get security involved.
