Not that it really alters the point, but they just bout Sidwell, presumably the replace Barry, for £5 million. Rangers are steadily getting their finances back in order, so they might be in position to spend a bit more in a couple years, especially with another good cup run thrown in there somewhere.

would you call beasley a starter? even before he was injured, he came off the bench fairly often.

20 appearances in all competitions last season: 14 starts, 6 substitute appearances. 6 goals, 4 assists.

    I'd consider him a starter.

Walter Smith's rotational system made it hard to figure out who actually was a first choice starter for the team, but just going by the number of Champions League games Beasley started when he was available and healthy, I'd say he was.

    Regarding Sheffield Wednesday's pre-season training:

No player ever wants to be associated with Francis Jeffers.........

    That's low.

I was just taking a look at Wednesday's roster this season, and to be honest its not too bad. Do I think they'll get promoted? No. Do I think they can have a much better season this time around? Certainly, and with some luck you never know. The Championship is so tight. Consider Wednesday finished in 16th position last season, but that was only 15 points behind the promotion place of 6th. You know, a lucky bounce here or there this season and they could be up there.

That seems sort of screwy. They seem rather set with young players who do much the same work as Bentley. Unless they are expecting big clubs to come for Gabby and Young sometime in the near future, which is certainly possible.

O'Neill needs depth. Right now he is basically one deep at each position. If the starter goes down, he has a man behind him. But after that, he's screwed.

So he needs to get some warm bodies at the very least or he'll have to shuffle his formations left and right.

Not news, but plenty of gossip and speculation. Such as ...

Lot of time left in the transfer window.

Villa had allegedly wanted Chimbonda but Keano snapped him up but fast.

I have friends in Sheffield and they are hearing rumors that the team believes it is a career ending injury...
I know it is not news so don't bite my head off, but the rumors will not help a transfer.

Really career ending? Like you said, it's a rumor, and probably one that was no background. I know Simek to date hasn't played any pre-season matches but he has apparently been training.
