Sweet, but the team still had problem with ball control (especially the first 20 minutes of the game), but they've grown a lot through the tournament. the question is can the team keep up the performance at this level from now on ?

    Thailand = pissed off attitude

+ plus second place title = or in another words, it is the first loser! :)

There is no such media release about the meeting for the match on Jan 14. They released the meeting was about:
    - Summary the last AFF result
    - Future of Calisto in VN
    - Plan for 2009 and ASIAN CUP 2011, there is nothing about Jan 14 has been released, neither ASIAN 2011 qualification. How do you know they were talking about Jan 14? ;)

VFF, Calisto and all of the team do care of the match. Therefore, Calisto calls Ngoc Duy (Army Club), Cong Huy (Can Tho) and Chu Ngoc Anh (Nam Dinh) for addition. Moreover, players have only 7 days off before next assembling.

My name is actually Kenji but that name is already registered by someone. Kenzhi looks like a Chinese name too so many Japanese fans think I am a Chinese when I debate with them. :D

And many Chinese fans wonder why I root for China instead of Japan. :D

It is nice that your wife can speak and even teach Japanese. Which foreign language among English, Chinese, Japanese and French is the most popular in Vietnam?

How do you know that they were not talking about Jan 14 then? ;) As you quoted in the meeting's press release, they did talk about plans for ASIAN CUP 2011. How could they plan for that ASIAN CUP without planning to get through the qualification group, which includes the Jan 14 match?

They talked that: "plan for 2009 and further, ASIAN CUP 2011", this cann't be understood that including Jan 14.

Anyway, an official new has been released today about Jan 14 and Jan 21. And also, Calisto position will be secured until April 2010.

I did not want to talk about it but you are the one who raised it first. And when Kenzhi thougth that current Vietnam is still like China under Mao Zhedong due to your biased post, as a Vietnamese I feel I need to provide him with more information to correct that because it seems that you didn't want to correct him.

I don't think it is an assumption. This is a fact that Vietnam is unified and Ho Chi Minh is a symbol of victory for most Vietnamese, regarless of north or south. Take a look at these two pictures, taken at the centre of Ho Chi Minh city (Saigon).

I understand what you are feeling and believe it or not I know what you said well because I did live through the period after that. However it happened some decades ago as a consequence of the War and now Vietnam is completely different. As you said "we are forgetting the past" to develop our country together. There is no difference between North and South, or between people living overseas and people living in the country. There is only one unified Vietnam that we are proud of.
If you have not come back to Vietnam for some decades you should do it at some point to experience it yourself. And please do not give any biased thought or mis-guided information to foreigners.

Well that's enough for political issue. Let's come back to football. Talking about the coming ASIAN cup qualification group, I think the other three teams are all in a higher level than Vietnam. Hope that our team can achieve one or more wins in this very tough group.

No. Vietnamese is :D Seems that every one uses Vietnamese like foreign language. They used it incorrectly. For example: They said "Khai Hoan Ca" is a song (can they sing it?):p and they bring it to My Dinh during the game :D

Just didn't want to prolong the political issue

You assumed. I live in Sai Gon for more then 2 decades. I said "North" because it is more likely that people bring Ho Chi Minh picture and sing "Nhu Co Bac Ho" during the game in the Hanoi. Believe me, we don't do that more often like in Hanoi. And it is rare to see "your taken picture" in the soccer celebration, we wave flags, sing "Ale Ale Ale" more. If you see it, you must be VERY VERY lucky. If you took it from media, it is understood that media tried to focus on it :)

And agian, you did assumed that I (or other) didn't know anything beside what they taught me ;)

    End this here.

I'm one who believe Ho Chi Minh is a good man who did what he needs to do
    for his people.
I'll try not to be too judgemental on any 'villian' as protrayed by the Western-control media.

Look at past and present history and you will be able to judge the communist Vietnamese or
Chinese have done less harm to other countries than the Western civilisation.

Well if I were you I would not make someone believe in a wrong thing about my country then leave it like that just because I "don't want to prolong the political issue".

Well I thought you made an assumption that people bring Ho Chi Minh picture during that game is because the game is in the north. I provided the photo as an evidence to prove that your assumption is not correct. That's all.

How do you know that people do that more often in Hanoi? Have you been to other regions of Vietnam? As far as I know people in Hanoi or in other regions that I've been there don't do that often either. Hochiminh's picture is brought into the street only in very special circumstances, like when Vietnam team entered the final in their home turf in 1998, 2003 and this year. Do you think people in Hanoi bring his picture to every game, every day?

I did not assume anything like that. Any educated Vietnamese should learn about the history of the country by reading and hearing from various sources. I understand that Ho Chi Minh is not a saint or a God. He might not be a perfect man as previously portraited by the VNese media. However he is the man who helped bring independece to our country; the man who dedicated all his life to the country and to his people. In that sense he needs to be respected.
You can't blame him for the Vietnam war (he did not cause that), for the exodus of VNese refugee in the 80s or for the economical struggle also in the 80s (he passed away long before that).

Before ending this political discussion, please once again don't make foreigners think that there is any seperation or difference between any regions of Vietnam. We are a united group, have the same origin and share the same blood and we are proud of that!

In VietNam , all we love Ho Chi Minh, he is great people. President Ho Chi Minh was the resplendent symbol of the policy of broad unity. Is the pride of nation. Bring Ho Chi Minh picture is a true patriot. I'm living in Ho CHi Minh city, and i see most people bring Ho Chi Minh picture , and sang a song "Nhu co bac Ho" in 24/12 and 28/12. In Viet Nam we hang Ho Chi Minh picture in our house. HoChiMinh with vietnamese like Phiden Castro of Cuba or Wasington of USA.... President Ho Chi Minh was the resplendent symbol of nation, of patriot , and winner. Are you understand?

North and South VietNam is one. But French,American is occupy us, and partition VN to 2.
And HoChiMinh lead the masses fight to the last with French and USA to national unity.
That is reason we love him. VNese is love one's country.

Not really. I think no matter where the game happens, the picture of Ho Chi Minh will still be carried in the stadium. After all he is the most loved man in the country (domestically). In the match some people also carried the picture of General Vo Nguyen Giap.
    ....

Classicalmania ==> Thank you very much for correctly putting the history of Vietnam in perspective and in such an eloquent and unbiased way that is shared by most scholars and western historians on this side of the continent. As a vietnamese living in the west for more than 35 yrs, I can confirm to you that, most educated people in the western world who know history, have great admirations for Ho Chi Minh and Vo Nguyen Giap for standing up against the might of the imperialist superpowers such as the US /French, etc.. One may accuse those leaders for brainwashing the vietnamese but at least, they were telling or guiding their people towards the truth and NOT LIKE MR BUSH over here, who manipulated /falsified evidences and brainwashed the american people into believing that Iraq has weapons of mass destruction and in so doing, he has the US invaded Iraq and killed thousands of innocent victims! Thanks God, I'm so relieved to see this guy leaving soon.. I was brainwashed myself by my own parents into believing that communism and socialism were bad but the more I studied history, the more respect I have for Ho Chi Minh and Vo Nguyen Giap for all of the sacrifices they did to liberate Vietnam from those occupiers. Thanks to those two leaders and countless other heroes who fought so bravely, we now have a free and proud Vietnam ! Thank you !!!

Anyway, back to soccer.. I WANT TO CONGRATULATE VIETNAM FOR WINNING THE SUZUKI CUP !!! I hope to see Vietnam qualify for the World Cup one day !!! Although, we won the Suzuki Cup but, from what I saw in YouTube, Singapore and Thailand were very very good teams.. So, I think we were very lucky to come up with a win each time but hey, a win is win and we should be proud !!!! Congratulation Vietnam !!!
