http://www.aseanfootball.org/news_d.asp?id=238 Thailand & Singapore, the co-host of the last ASEAN Football Championship, has pulled out of the race to host the event once again. Only Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia and Myanmar remain as the nations willing to host ASEAN Football Championship 2008 Cambodia & Laos are battling it out to see who host the qualifiers for the Asean Football Championship
The so called second leg 'offside' goal which S'pore scored was a goal Even Starsports commentaters was shocked that it was 'offside' as the player was coming from behind The only reason nobody 'remember' was S'pore was nt like Thailand & did nt walkout Starsports commentaters even say 'S'pore shld walkout' since the decision was also a surprise to the Thai players So it just Excuses, Excuses & Excuses again
CAMBODIA TO HOST ASEAN FOOTBALL QUALIFIERS INDONESIA AND THAILAND HOSTS FOR ASEAN FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP 2008
The ASEAN Football Championship may kickoff in December, but before that we have the Youth Championships coming right in front of us. The Under 16 event kicks off on July 7th, so here's a chance to see the stars of the future. Event is held in Indonesia, with the following participants: Australia Bahrain - guest nation Indonesia Malaysia Singapore The regions big boys Thailand have not entered, and Laos who normally do will in youth events are also not present. Just a slight pity that not all ASEAN members are present. But should be an interesting little torunement. Teams gather up on July 7th with the action kicking off on 9th.
Timor Leste will prepare its participation in the qualifiers with a training camp in Portugal. The majority of the squad will come from Timor Leste, but will be joined by Alfredo Esteves, currently the only pro Timorese (that recently played a Celebrity match in Romania alongside Figo, Raul, Nakata, Edgar Davids), from UK will join José Vide and Egas, a couple more that play in Portuguese 3rd Div and may also join a couple of players from Victoria State League. They will tour Portugal from 2 weeks in order to have a proper training period that may allow them to show their real talent for the first time. After Portugal they will fly straight to Cambodja. This training camp is rumoured to have the involvement of the 3 Portuguese powerhouses - SL Benfica, Sporting Lisbon and FC Porto, and will be an annual event from now on.
Yes i understand that, but still, a bit of a joke if you cannot run a tournement for your whole region. It's almost a half hearted competition. How can AFF expect their member nations to progress when they fail to create a full blown tournement for their younger members??
I agree and even more joke the ASEAN U20 Championship with 4 teams and only one ASEAN member , Thailand.... All ASEAN members can participate next year.
