Kroenke won't sell. No champions league next season is not a worry for him, considering our revenues presumably are well within his metrics.
There's been some nice discussion on Arsecast (Arseblog) in the last 2 days. If you've got a bit of spare time (like me when I'm doing the dishes ) they're worth a listen. Yesterday, one of the themes was how even though Wenger has been a big problem for quite a few years now, that the bigger problem lies upstairs with Kroenke. I couldn't decide if it was a strange way of deflecting direct criticism off the boss, or a legit feeling that even if we swap managers, we're hopeless with our current owner. Which is what they basically said. And today, there's an Arsecast interview with a guy named James Montague who wrote a book called "The Billionaires Club" (about the new football owners). I'm just listening to it right now and this part caught my ear (paraphrased): "I visited St.Louis and talked to people there, and Kroenke is the most hated man I've ever encountered... he's so hated there that people actually actively support Spurs if they support any EPL team" I guess that shouldn't be too big surprise since he ripped the Rams away from there. But I liked the anecdote. And I'm left pondering the idea: what's it going to take to get Kroenke to bail on his odd, detached dalliance with our beloved team? Or are we doomed even further because Stan has all but given his toy to his son Josh? I personally don't think Usmanov is going to be the answer.
The only way Kroenke would sell and even then I doubt it would happen but it would take someone offering a figure of just far away above and beyond Arsenal's true value. It would have to be something equal to what we saw with Neymar's transfer only in terms of club values. They'd probably have to offer anywhere from 3.5 - 5 billion. And even then I actually question whether he'd sell sadly.
Yeah. Apparently he's waiting for a new refinery to come online before he submits a bid. Should be sometime next year and from what little I know of him, he sounds like he might be the type to actually offer above and beyond the club's value.
Walmart armed high school shooters Do u think Chelsea fans lost sleep over romans deeds when they won shit?
Aliko Dangote. He's from Nigeria. Not sure but given the Nigerian oil world, there may well be some murky ethics. http://www.businessinsider.com/afri...-to-buy-arsenal-and-sack-arsene-wenger-2017-8
I do. If Arsenal were bought out by an evil overlord sugar daddy then they'd cease to be the club I love and I would sadly but respectfully move on. Though I'm spending more time with MLS by default, anyway, because I greatly appreciate the cost control measures on hand that minimize the chance of creating a form of Old Firm domination within the league.
I can see the future now... Arsenal 1-2 years from now. And it's perfect! Dangote (or Usmanov) as our owner Jose Mourinho as our manager Diego Costa as our marquee player
Aliko Dangote is an honorary citizen of Arkansas so, he has that going for him, which is nice... Appears to be well on the "angels" side of the type of people who can afford to buy us. He is worth about double what Stan is worth but, the team would still represent a substantial part of his assets.
And this is why we need Kroenke gone... https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/fo...y-arsenal-stake-to-win-trophies-a3202046.html
Oy. Tough crowd. But see, if we CAN clone them we can also do Vieira, Parlour... Think of the millions saved on transfer and agents' fees!!! Use The Force, Yoss!
@poetgooner posted this in another thread, supposedly from Arseblog: "The noises from the top are that owner Stan Kroenke is desperate and hungrier than even to win trophies, but there is no hiding the fact that he will not be injecting a penny of his own wealth to assist the quest. Kroenke and the club are said to believe Arsenal can punch above their weight to triumph using their existing model. Bearing in mind that model has shown little sign of leading Arsenal to the level of glory they profess to crave, and that some of their rivals are accelerating away on and off the pitch, it remains to be seen if the commitment to self-sustainability will be reconsidered in the future." Hard to know if that's accurate, but if so it seems to contradict the commonly held view that Stan could not care less about winning. However OTOH it does support the view that he doesn't want to spend much money, especially if it's his.
It's not that contradictory. He wants to win so that his investments pay off. If we win, his shares in the club jumps up in value. However, investing 150m so we can win makes no financial sense to him.
