Hm, don't agree with this. Argentina maybe wasn't quite as smooth as 2006 team but was still good in 2010, looked class in the group stages, would have put 4 or 5 past the Nigerians but their keeper had the game of his life. Everyone said Messi was below par, but only because he didn't score, but he was coming very close, good dribbles, and creating goals and chances for others. he actually had a superb and much under rated tournament.

Going into the Germany game Argentina was much fancied to win, at least in the British media that I was watching at the time. I think they were just beaten tactically by Germany on the day. Messi had his worst game of the tournament at the wrong moment, he was just running down blind allies and getting disposessed.

Ha, you must be getting sick of Germany by now, I think that's 3 world cups in a row they beat Argentina.

Well, that's good for the Argentinians or anyone in the crowd to see Messi, perhaps many of them for the only time in their lives. I am sure that's what some people came to see.

    To me Aguero>Tevez>Higuain.
Aguero should start, Tevez should be in the squad, and Higuain in reserve incase of injury.
Unless there are injuries to Tevez or Aguero I'm not aware of, or the coach is trying to keep Aguero fresh for later on, I just cannot understand the selection here?
    What does everyone else think?

Messico proving they're a one-man team. Before Leo entered Argentina was lifeless at offense. Also Argentina are lucky :whistling: they haven't had a player sent off despite seven fouls, some with cards.

Argentina does often look an average side without Messi, it's true. Although if you look at the calibre of their players I'd argue that they have the best players of any South American team, even without Messi.

Aguero and Di Maria and maybe Mascherano, and some other good defenders also. Even if Messi breaks his leg in a minute, I'd still have them as tournament favourite.

So how long did those three goals take, about 20 minutes? Anyone who came to see Messi play would have been disappointed with the starting line up, but they've got their money's worth now.

Higuain is the better striker do you even watch Serie A? Tevez seriously?
It doesn't matter anyway because whoever plays striker for Argentina doesn't see the ball like ever, and when they see the ball its usually a big chance - every player, including strikers need to get a feeling for the game before they can perfom. I have never seen strikers be less involved in a match than those of Argentina - both Higuain and Aguero take too much shit by people who dont analyze what actually happens on the pitch and just look at highlights or numbers on a piece of paper.

Superb pass by Messi, and great goal in general, but feeling sorry for Panama now, they don't deserve this.

Kun twisting the knife. Unless Panama beats Chile by 5 goals and not concede one they're out.

All Panama has to do is beat Chile and that gives them 6 points
